Yes when I too did a very long walk but it settled the next day
I have been walking the dog for about six weeks ( 10 weeks post TKR on Monday). I started with 1 and a half miles twice a week, then 2 miles three times and I am now at three miles five times a week. On the other days I did short walks but did go shopping. I started walking slower than normal but I am now back to normal speed - for me about four miles an hour. I did not really have any pain, tired and made sure I iced and rested when I got home , to start with a nap and pain killers. Now I don't need pain killers or ice just legs up for half an hour. Looking forward to the nice weather and six miles every morning, think I may still have to rest afterwards, but the I did before the op as well.
Yes, ice will help and maybe give it less exercise the following day.
Hi Jeanette, I have had a major setback with physio. I attended a circuit training session last wednesday and the exercises were so much harder than the exercises I had been given at home. Now I have to use my crutches again as I am in agony. I too have pain and crunching in my knee cap. Before the session I was able to walk without crutches at all. Now I am worried that the session has damaged all the work the surgeon has done.
Hope with lots of ice rest and elevation will settle down. Sounds like your scar tissue snapped. Stay on the crutches and see how it goes. My doc said you can't really damage the new joint but you can tear muscles or damage tendons by overdoing it. I know it's possible to dislocate but you'd know. Why don't you phone a Physio or gp to check if no better tomorrow. Think the popping and cracking is normal . I had a big snap inside at hydro last week but the Physio was not concerned just said it's a tendon
Hello Caroline, yes I am goint to make an appointment with physio to discuss whats happened. I can't face another session this week. I also had an appointment with the consultant and he was concerned about the kneecap crunching so have to go and see him in another 6 months.
Doc told me your new knee will tell you when you have overdone it. Sounds like yours is talking to you.
I had TKR nearly 3 years ago. I remember after a hard physio session where I really pushed myself the next day my knee was really painful. Dr said it was just that I had worked hard at physio and nothing to worry about, infact he said "Good work."
Yes but what's causing me concern is that I am still in pain 4 days later.
