9 days post op for Rectocele

Hi ladies it's 9 days since my op and I feel really well almost no pain or discomfort. I have had no blood loss and was just wondering when I can start bathing again . Also I've been going for small walks is that too much already. When I left hospital they never really gave me any advice other than to look out for infection and bleeding.

Lucky you gemma,I'm 9 weeks past my rectocele repair and still not right. If you can manage small walks and feel well then that is really good news. Hospital advice is rubbish. The advice I saw re: baths was wait until 6 weeks after op but who knows

Sorry to hear that rosieod1. I'm making sure I don't lift anything heavy I'm just doing light house work and resting plenty. Hope you feel better soon .

I had the rectocele, cystocele and ureathral sling done at the end of November. I was told if I had any bleeding that I was doing too much. With regards to the bath I was told to wait 6 weeks before getting into a bath or going swimming. Showers were ok.

I have done nothing that I shouldn't....Sooo bored now. Not used to sitting around doing nothing but am behaving myself, getting the hub to do all the heavy stuff and I'm still not right sad

Hi. I am now 7 weeks post op although mine included a laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy. I was discharged with little information; they seemed to concentrate on avoiding lifting and constipation. I was walking too much at around 1 week and had some dragging/throbbing. I obtained advice from my gp who recommended short walks increasing the distance slowly. I was told to avoid baths post surgery but was not given any info on when it would be ok to resume bathing so I have stuck to showers. I have found this forum so useful during my recovery. There are numerous threads on this subject and most contributors have advised taking things very slowly and resting as much as possible. Most of us seem to have found this frustrating! Good luck with your recovery.

Thank God for this forum, have found far more useful info on here than I ever did at the hospital. Fortunately my surgery is brilliant and have helped me so much with useful info, plus all the wonderful ladies on here who have given me so much positive advise, bless you all xx

I have just had my 6weeks check after my anterior rectocele repair & pleased to say everything is healing fine. I didnt do anything heavy went out for short shopping trips but not to long, knew when it was time to rest which i did a lot of imbetween pottering about doing light tasks after a couple of weeks. Had a virus which gave me coughing spasms which i worried had done damage. Had short walks too. Drove short distances after 4weeks. Was told i could bath straight away had one on day 3, didnt have them every day more showers. Told not to swim but have been told i can now. Still not doing anything heavy or though i was told i can return to work which i think is too soon so having 2 morecweeks off they returning rduced hours. This website was a great help during recovery. Hope this helps. Good luck

Hi gemma i think i sent my reply for you to rosiod1. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Lucky you, wish I had found this website before my op. I have been really good,no lifting or anything I shouldn't do but still not healed after almost 10 weeks now. My fab hub is 10 years younger than me and we were very "active" before my op but sadly not at all now. Have tried a couple of times but no way at all, feels like they have totally sewed up my ladies bits sad

Hi gemma

I read some where that bathing can swell stitches and surrounding area so best avoided for up to 12 weeks. I was desperate for a long hot soak in the bath but waited for my 12 week checkup. Dr was pleased with her work and my recovery so I came home and had a nice long hot soak in the bath :-)

I do know you are not fully healed until 12 weeks after your op and can still have stiches until then. I was told i still have some there. I don't if that is the reason but told not to try " anything " for 3 or 4 more weeks. You will still have swelling so this could be the problem may have to give it a little longer. Sometimes we are slower to heal.

I love my baths but will wait and stick to showers for now 😕be worth the wait 😉
