Hey everyone, so I'm 9 days after having total hysterectomy and removal of both ovaries, I have started my hrt and I'm 32.
I'm still in agony, taking loads of pain killers and unable to poo easily. Walking anywhere round the house drains me and I get regular shooting pains in my lower area.
Is this normal, or should I be feeling better by now?
Thanks any advice appreciated xx
Hello
9 days is very, very early in your recovery. I was either in bed or on the sofa all day, apart from little walks around the house. I was still taking the strong painkillers then too. It is a vicious circle with the pain killers though. Constipation and bowel movements really, really hurt so we need pain relief, but the pain relief causes constipation. Try dulcoease and peppermint tea or capsules.
It does get better, but don't expect miracles. It is a slow process. Rest and take care
Absolutely agree.....it's very early for you..take the pain killers but you must take stool softeners too.....and really take it easy...I'm just over 4 weeks and still very limited in what I can do .....x
I am 8 days post vaginal hysterectomy, and I am getting the shooting pain, a lot of wind and bad poo problems. I had been taking softeners, but I fear this is making the problem worse as 'not evacuating properly' I think is the correct terminology, and so am going to stop the softeners to see if that helps. I think the shooting pain is wind, and I am advised that wind is in fact a common and normal part of the aftermath of this op, and completely normal. Definitely being a man in the next life.... I hope you feel better soon. x
