I will be 9 weeks po tomorrow. It's been a very tough road as you all know. There were many times I questioned why did I do this. I cried many many days. The pain was the worst than anything I have ever felt. I feel sorry for people that live daily with pain. I was so down just because I wasn't making any progress. At 6 weeks I switched pts. It proved to be the best thing yet. I have seen him 5 times and each time I improved. Maybe a little but it was still an improvement. He was so encouraging that he has not only worked on my knee. He helped me mentally get into a better place. Today I measured 105! As hard as it is to believe we all will get better. It is true we all heal differently and at our own pace. So please remain positive. Keep doing exercises icing elevation. It will come together. ♡♡♡Linda
Thanks for such a positive post, Linda I'm glad to hear you are getting better It's great motivation for me, too, still struggling along at the 4 and a half week mark! I agree, I am sure a lot of us would not have undertaken this challenge, had we known what lay ahead.....but we can only go at our own pace, and be thankful as you are x
I am 7 weeks post op and a few weeks ago the pain was still so bad and also wondered why I did this. I had a breakdown last night just crying my eyes out. My therapists tell me that I am doing good, but I don't feel as though I have made any progress. I still can't get the knee straight. Since I found this forum, it has helped a great deal. I have found on here that you can whine and complain and no one judges you. Also you can ask anything and everyone is there for you. Good luck and hang in there.
Pts are so important to how you heal I believe. Had a great home PT and the two I see at out patient therapy are great! Feels like my own cheering section. 8 weeks out and 120 left ...122 right on my own.. No push! Now to work the straights..right is there left has a little to go. Positive attitude is definitely a key. Asked if I would do both knees at same time again? Four weeks ago I would have said no...but now yes. Just gonna keep on moving! ..now for those darn stairs.. :D
What's his name?????
I'll go to Egypt if I have to.
I wanna stop crying too
Tell us!
120 and 122!!! That is awesome! I hope I get there some day....my straight is 0 today. Stairs...me too. Going up is good. With a bad left knee going down is difficult.
Bob and he is in upstate NY.
My left was the worst before surgery and it wants to act like before on the stairs. Baby steps I called them. Now going down some days I feel like the old woman in the Mr. Bean comedy and everyone wants to zip past me! If I have a regular stairwell with two railings I manage well.
Crying is good! I am now 3mths after my PKR Revision (had the original PKR in Sep 2015 and Revision in Feb 2016). Believe me, I know the pain you are talking about too well! Crying helped me a lot. My PT guy was great (same guy after both surgeries). He told me ''if anyone can work thru this, it's you." KNOW that you CAN do this and concur that damn pain. Some people heal slower than others, so don't compare. This forum is GREAT! Good luck to you!
Linlee: Glad to hear you found a PT person that makes you feel better mentally! MOST important!!! The crying is good - helps to deal with the pain. I too wonder why I ever did this - and then had a revision - double wamee! Hang in there, stay positive and do your exercises -- it will all come together!
Thanks so much for this positive post! Best of luck, Linda.
