My ex husband has just been told he has cirrhosis and 95% of his liver has been damaged, has anyone got any advice on what this means for him?
Go see your gp straight away ! I've never heard of a % given on liver ! Take care
I'm presuming he's a drinker or was or has it been caused by something else.
He is a drinker! A heavy drinker at that, he has been told not to drink any more alcohol EVER!
Sadly if it's that bad I would say that his options are going to be limited but if he stops drinking now forever might possibly give him some extra years, what did his hepatologist tell him his options are.
As I am the ex wife I only know what his new wife is telling me! I'm just extremely worried for my kids that's all.
Do they live with you, if so your support will be the best thing for them also if there dad can stop drinking for there sake if not for his own, how old are they.
Yes they do live with me, they are 15, 12 and almost 9, they don't really have much of a relationship with heir dad which is sad, but not for the want of trying! I just hope this doesn't damage them too much
I think that children are much better at dealing with things than we give them credit for, try to plant the seed over time to prepare them, that's all you can do and be there for them, just try to remember you now have a life of your own which sounds harsh I know but that's only my opinion
Sounds like the only possibility for him is the liver transplant waiting list if he is eligible.
I have.... my doctor told me I have about 10% of my liver still functioning.
