A breakthrough at last!

I seem to have been hovering betweent 105/110 bend and 10 extension for ages . . .and had more or less given up trying to improve it.  In fact, for a couple of days I haven't even done any exercises or my two kilometre walk.  Last night, lying on my side in bed unable to sleep (as usual) I was pulling my legs up into a bent position and I felt there was less tightness, and a lot less pain . . so today I went at the exercises with gusto, and achieved 120 / 0 with no problem!  I had rather thought that at 17 weeks I was not going to get any improvement, but there you go!  Never say die!

At last Physio appt I was 113 on the left and 105 on the right. I'm 7 weeks since double TKR and am not feeling as if I'm going to achieve any more.

I was happy to hear of someone making further progress at 17 weeks.

Well done to you.

.....and here I was thinking I had done well today just managed to achieve 69/15 at 8 weeks! Mind you two weeks ago I was still sitting at 45, so maybe not so bad, lol

Hi Carol, what do you mean by 69/15?

Good heavens yes!  Seven weeks is nothing, and a double TKR!  You are doing a LOT better than I was believe me!  I think at that stage I was probably just under 90 . . .

69 bend, 15 extension . . the extension (getting it straight) is actually just as important as the bend, but my physio forgot to tell me that!  It's been  a struggle to get it straight, and when it's slightly bent it makes standing still very difficult!  didn't really seem to worry me when walking though . . just a problem standing in queues!

Such a lot depends on what your knee was like before the operation!  I'm just glad to see that improvement continues even at more than four months, so there is lots of time for you to get to your goal.  It does take a bit of effort though!

When the physio was measuring my legs straightened, I'm surge she said minus 5 and minus 12.

Does this make sense to you?

That's absolutely brilliant. I'm so chuffed for you. It's great to hear when things finally click into place.

I'm not quite at that stage yet but I did discover today that my exercises do actually help. I've been working from home for the last few weeks managing a few hours a day. I got caught up dealing with some issues in the office and before I knew it I'd been sat there for 4 hours straight (with just the odd stand up and stretch). That long without exercises definitely set me back.

In a strange way though I'm pleased that I know I'm not wasting my time with all the time I spend on

them.

Funny the things that give you a boost. Hopefully one day I'll get to the same stage as you. Well done again. 👏🏻🎉💥

Hi

Yes that make sense, it means you still have 5 and 12 degrees to go until you are straight. I'm 9weeks double TKR and still at minus 10 on both not sure I will ever get there xx

Thanks Sandra, I get it now.

Not sure why minus!  My 'good' knee is actually minus ten . . that is, it actually bends slightly backwards . . . do yours bend backwards by any chance?  that is what I would have thought the 'minus' meant, but if they are not quite straight, then perhaps that's what she meant . . I would have thought that more likely  . . . .

I know I've been a bit slow getting to this stage. . I started rather badly . .didn't even walk until  about twelve days . . so much swelling and no movement in ankle at all . . and I really thought I was not going to make it . . but even if it gets no better than this, I am quite happy now!  It must be difficult for you to find the time now that you are back to work!  I suppose there are some advantages to being old!!!

Well done you!

Yay .... well done!!! That's great news. 💥💥🏃🏃🎉🎉
