A change of inhaler

Six days ago I was advised to change one of my inhalers from Spiriva to Seebri by Virgin Medical who attended my surgery. I was given a 28 days supply. After 5 days on a walk of one and a half miles to the town centre I found I had to stop three times as I was breathlessn normally I can walk into town very easily as it is level. Return to the doctor and I am now back on Spiriva today.

Question I have is does any one else use or have used this inhaler and what, if any, problems do you have?

Fred Church

Hi Fred, About a year or so ago, my husband was put on Seebri for three months. He did not see any improvement and had one or two qualms about it, so he asked to go back on his previous inhaler and is still on it now. Here in our country he had to pay for Seebri, quite expensive too, so he could see no reason for staying on it when there was no improvement.

Hi I haven't used this specific one but my symbicort was changed a couple of years ago to the much cheaper generic version Duoresp.  I was told the ingredients were the same.  Fine but the expedient wasn't ie the way it was delivered.  The particles were smaller and finer which didn't agree with me at all.  After suffering sob I got the doctor to change it back.  x

HI FRED,

I HAVE BEEN TAKING SPIRIVA FOR 5 YEARS FOR HAVING STAGE 4 END STAGE COPD AND I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT.  I ALSO USE SYMBICORT AND ANOTHER RESCUE INHALER. I THINK IT HELP A LITTLE BUT SINCE I AM IN END STAGE 4 WITH THE DISEASE THERES NOT A WHOLE LOT THAT IS GOING TO HELP WITH MY SOB AS FAR AS INHALERS GO.  GOING TO PULMONOLOGIST NEXT WEEK TO DISCUSS OPTIONS.  I THINKING LUNG TRANSPLANT. I DONT KNOW HOW LONG THE LIST IS OR EVEN IF I'M THERE YET BUT GOING TO DAMN WELL FIND OUT.  I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU  FRED.  ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE USING THE SPIRIVA CORRECTLY?  MAKE SURE TO ONLY PUNCTURE THE CAPSULE ONE TIME AND SUCK IN VERY SHARP AND QUICKLY.

RICKY

Hi Ricky good luck to you.  Fingers crossed you get a transplant quickly.  Let us know what happens please.
