A friendly reminder for my anxiety sufferers!

Hi everyone! This is a bit different from the usual posts but I just wanted to say it's Monday and I feel like this could be a good week lol! I started mediating again yesterday and in return slept well last night. I'm going to try and keep it up everyday this week and see if that helps my current annoying physical symptoms.

To all my anxiety sufferers out there... remember that you're NOT alone!! Anxiety is a terrible, evil little monster but we can overcome it!

Anyone have any venting or comments they wanna share about their anxiety? I'm up for some chatting and letting some steam loose! lol. Discussion is one of the best anxiety therapies in my opinion =)

Well aren’t you a breath of fresh air 😀 I got up this morning & said, right today is going to be good & it was until 12mid-day & a wave came over me, felt hot, sick bla, bla bla....  so I got up, even if I did think I was going to fall over, I scrubbed the bathroom 🙄. So you meditate & I clean, whatever gets us through the rotten 5/10 minutes - your post made me smile & I truly hope you do have the very best of a week.

I clean when I'm anxious also! I always laugh bc my mom will come over and say, "wow the house is clean, didn't feel well today?" 😂 At least the house benefits from my mental illness LOL.

I hope you have a great week, just keep cleaning to distract yourself!

Hi Philly:

You are absolutely right . Anxiety is such a horrendous and hateful monster . I just hate it when I feel shortness of breath and heart palpitations. These two are my most scariest symtoms . I got hooked on benzos for 17 years and my dr wanted to wean them off for me. I am so scared and worried . Sometimes when I have a panic attacks , it ends in tears . We are on the same boat .

Ugh I hate the shortness of breath and heart palp!! I was having the shortness of breath last week, thought it was acid reflux but then as always, whenever I'm distracted it went away - the classic sign that nope, it's just anxiety -_- lol.

I found this breathing exercise online that really helps when my heart is racing. Maybe try this next time...

1. Sit with your back straight and your hands in your lap or on your thighs. Close your eyes. While doing this keep the tip of your tongue touching the top of your mouth.

When you inhale – do it through your nose. Exhale through your mouth. Ready?

2. Start inhaling slowly for 4 seconds (count them in your head not out loud). Push out your stomach and fill your lower lungs first. Then the rest of the lungs are filled.

Hold your breath until you count to 7.

Exhale comfortably for 8 seconds.

Try to imagine that all the anxiety is leaving your body while you are exhaling. You are letting it go.

Pause for 2 seconds without inhaling (very important) and do this one more time.

Repeat until you feel your chest pain gone.

I love posts like these! For me, it’s a reminder that no matter the symptoms and circumstances, we are all going to see another week. It’s just taking managing strategies and a positive attitude to work through each day I’ve been doing much better than I was months ago, but since learning of my first food allergy last week, I’ve been pretty on edge about eating in general (which is ridiculous). Anyone have advice on how to handle little relapses like this?

I did the same! lol. I had a blood allergy test done at my GP a little while back and it said I had a slight allergy to peanuts. Which I found really odd bc I eat peanuts ALL the time haha. So then when I'd eat something with peanuts in it I started getting nervous and thinking, is my throat closing, is my mouth itchy? -_-

I ended up going to an actual allergist to ask them about the slight peanut allergy. They then told me that blood tests for allergies can be very inaccurate and that if I eat peanuts now and have no symptoms it was probably just a false positive, so no need to worry. After that I calmed down lol.

What is it about eating now that has you on edge? Were you allergic to a lot?

I find it hard to do diaphragm breathing . Instead , I do the alternatie nostril one. Place your thumb on one nostril and do the inhale and exhale with one nostril and do the same for the other . Concentrate on counting 1,2,3,4,5. I use the DARE app for the breathing exercise .

I've never heard of that one! I don't think the nostril would work well for me tho, my nose always seems kinda stuffy (prob cus I'm allergic to dust lol), and so I never feel like I get enough air just breathing with my nose.

Hey hun, such an uplifting post! I don't know anyone who feels upbeat on a Monday! You've got a great attitude. As you know, negative thoughts and anxiety go hand in hand. I would definitely have to agree that expressing and sharing your thoughts is hugely beneficial! Message me anytime honey. This way or "backstage". I can't believe I just wrote that, so naff! I meant to say privately. Keep smiling, it's infectious! Donna xxx

Thankyou for cheering me up. I feel so happy now x

Could be worse Donna you could have said “backside” 😂 just had my afternoon wobble with but not cleaning anymore - lol.  7 weeks ago Vertigo decided that as anxiety was having such a good time in my head it decided to join the party.... so T’u all for giving me such a lift, I’ve just re-read all the posts & while I feel yuck I’m smiling. x

I will try! =) It's definitely not easy some days, you can tell this is obv a better day bc I am in a positive mood hahaha. 3 days from now I will prob be like, i hate my life! hahaha jk. But it's true, I do try as much as possible too enjoy the good days when they are here. Makes the bad ones not as bad =)

Omg I had the vertigo symptoms -___- It's like im on a damn boat allll day long lol drives me nuts

At least you can get off a bloody boat 😂😂🤪

I'm with you all the way honey, I can't stop smiling! Life doesn't get better than this. I don't know why, but I feel relaxed and content today. I wonder how long it will last... Xxx Donna xxx

Hahaha I did yes! But I had that feeling probably a good 2 or 3 months. Now I get it only occasionally, when I'm extra anxious again.
