Hi folks, I had my left knee totally replaced a year ago in March. It is a lot better, no bone on bone pain, swelling, aches however, recently, I have been experiencing a little more pain in my knee, especially at the inner part towards the front. I use my exercise bike 20 mins daily, walk 20 mins a day and work as a fulltime classroom assistant .....on my feet for 8 hrs daily. It get sore as the day goes on but recently sorer than before. It is not unbearable but I don't know how painful it actually is as taking 6-8 cocoadmol (30/100) beteween 6 and 8 daily as well as naproxen 500mg twice a day for my right knee which will be replaced later this year.
If any one can help i would really appreciate it. thank you Suz x
Hi Sue,
I'm not sure what the others would say but to me it sounds like your doing a little too much. I've been told a TKR takes 12-18 months to fully recover. Have you tried icing again? Especially after the bike. Other then that I would say get with your surgeon and talk with him. Hope things improve with you .
Hi Sue
I agree, perhaps you are on your feet rather too long. Maybe try to rest it up a bit in the day if you can (difficult I know!). Maybe also go back to the icing, when you can.
I'm not at your stage as just 4.5 months but I was told it can take up to 2 years for complete recovery from TKR so you are a lot nearer done than I.
Well done you!
Marilyn

Thank you, will try icing again. Get to11 months andfeel should be getting lot better but feel last 10 weeks going backwards. I am supposed to see consultant this month. Thank you x
Thank you marilyn, i will try the ice again. It was so much
better but now gets stiff at times, very achey and
uncomfortable. I am taking painkillers for other knee which
needs done so dont know how bad it is. Hopefully see consultant this month butgetting frustrated, thank you xx
Dear Sue,
You are lucky enough that you can stand for 8 hrs. I had my bilateral TKR in FEB 2016, but till now I can not stand still for few minutes. I have no pain while walking, but if I stand for few minutes my knees start getting stiffer.
My surgeon though he is a reputed surgeon of India has no answer for this.
Hi ruifeng, standing is hard going but have to do it, i try sit if i can. I do really miss my walking, hopefully will get better. x
