A positive post

Hi there,

I have been posting nothing but panic stricken, morbid and depressing posts on here for the last while, looking for advice, help and reassurance.

My health anxiety and depression is never fully away and I'm not sure when/if I'll get to the stage where it just goes.

Anyway, I've had a great few days. I travelled on the train to see my fiancee (I was missing her). I decided to have a break from my normal day to day and get away to somewhere new. I've still experienced little bouts of anxiety dizziness etc but in general, I've felt great in comparison to how low I've been feeling recently.

I wanted to share this with you all. I got some test results back which are a little bit of reassurance, I've generally felt better and happier. My aches and pains have been minimal therefore I haven't been led to believe that I have some incurable disease.

I haven't focused on death as much as I have done in the last wee while and feeling generally more positive about life. To put it lightly, I gave my self a kick up the back side. It wasn't easy. I had hit rock bottom and slowly picking myself back up.

I know this isn't the end of it, which sucks but I am so grateful for this bout of positivity and happiness. Wow, can't believe I just said that word.

So, here's to positive vibes and the good days. As much as they seem non existent, they do exist - hiding way at the back of these troubled brains of ours.

Feel free to send me your positive experiences. I'd love to hear them.

I hope I can get there with my Generalized anxiety and OCD which started with Health now it's (More sexual orientation related) I am happy to hear positive stories either way I hope the trend for you and others continues

I suffered terribly after I was treated for a blocked artery in my heart. I kept thinking I was going to have a heart attack, bleed to death or something awful. I was taking all kinds of med and CBT to improve my well being. I had good and bad days. Then the good days started out numbering the bad. I slowly began to cut back on Citalopram and c a now on only 10mg. I am completely off clonazepam.

The medicine helped me through, but focusing on CBT and mind over matter type thinking conquered most of my anxiety. I know I will always carry it with me, but so much better now!

Glad you are feeling better.

Hey Christophe. I am gay and have gone through some struggles and anxiety in that department before I came out about 7 years ago. If you want to chat, let me know

Hi! This will be my first ever post on this platform. So great to hear some positivity in a place that is generally full of us desparate people looking for help out of a dark pit.

I've struggled with health anxiety and dissociation on and off for a good 15 years or so. Brain fog, tight throat, jitters, off balance, tense, sweaty, poor memory, insomnia, strange appetite fluctuations, feelings of impending doom - you name it! During a particularly bad period at the beginning of this year (caused by many factors, including an inflamed and overactive thyroid and the birth of my second child) I had a breakthrough. After reading some great books and talking to some good people I realised that the only way to fight anxiety was to STOP fighting. The anxiety monster loves to be fed with more and more adrenaline, and the more we panic about our anxiety symptoms the more adrenaline we produce and the more horrible and confused we feel.

Once I started to force myself to just get on with the day and do things that I know would usually bring me some amount of joy, once I looked at my anxiety and anxious moments as simply a fact of the moment - acknowledging it, tipping my hat to it and then carrying on with my day, slowly, slowly I had better and better hours and then better and better days and weeks. I stopped giving the anxiety monster power over me. In moments of anxiety I stop, take a breath in and on the outward breath I give a smile to my anxiety and take a little more power away from it... this is WAY easier said than done, but I believe it is the only way to truly kick anxiety's butt.

I wish you well Keep on LIVING! Your physical symptoms are only manifestations of an exhausted mind.

I couldn't have said it better myself!

So happy you are feeling better, and have hope. Lots of support coming your way, great to hear people coping with anxiety and your positivity after your bad patch will hopefully help others , its great to hear we can live with anxiety, once we learn we can manage it even though it can be scary and drive us mad we can gain strength knowing people have been there but got through the worst. 😊❤️
