I'm scared screw is loosening in my ankle after a triple ankle fusion Surgery was September 30
7 weeks later screw loose. Scared to bear weight. But told to be PWB. Go back in three week.
What are the baby steps of PWB? Will I be able.to.walk if it is a non union?
Had ankle surgery Sept 13, and was in hard cast until today, last cast they put a flat bottom on and gave me a flip flop that attached to bottom. I have been using a scooter which has been a blessing, I started out by standing in front and pushing it in front of me for support. It will ache but I did not have any so called pain from doing this, And last Friday I was able to walk quite well with no assistance. Today I am in a full boot and will be so nice to sleep without a cast on, I am to do whatever I can, but continue to elevate, and wear boot whenever I am up on it. So do what you can tolerate as everyone is different, even if just standing up and down with weight on your foot until you feel comfortable walking. This is not an easy process mentally or physically but there are alot of us out here and know what you are going thru. Good luck and keep us updated.
That is scary. How did you know screw was loosening? Did you have any pain? So sorry to hear that. Hope all will be well. Let us know what is going on with it.
That's not a good thing. How can you tell it's loosening???
Do what Doc told you to do.
The doctor took xrays and said it should be flush with the brace. She didn't have a comparative same angle so I can't say it wasn't like that at surgery.
Thanks so much. I started doing it and became afraid I was putting too much weight. I'm 250lbs so trying to put my weight on walker is diffisult. Decided to start again after Thanksgiving as to not be too stressed.
I so appreciate your response. Happy for .you and your progress
The doctor took xrays and said it should be flush with the brace/bracket. She didn't have a comparative same angle so I can't say it wasn't like that at surgery. Frustrating
I have been that's why I'm frustrated. She didn't say lay like a stone so I moved within the ability of the cast. If my ankle needed to be immobile it should have been in that halo contraption. Just venting.
So are you saying that you should have not moved your foot in cast?
That cast must have been lobserved. I cannot move my foot in cast
Yes. When I had it elevated, the cast was very loose when I moved around in bed. I almost feel like I will just be disabled the rest of my life. I just feel like things are bound to mess up for me.
NOW, Worrying and Anxiety is not going to solve anything really... I pray for you... How old are you?
I am 49. This is my second surgery. The first was immediately after the head on collision and the surgeon was conservative. I have good and bad days. Mostly worried days.
