A story about alcohol

I'm not sure if I've sent you guys this story before. Anyway here goes:-

I drank for happiness and became unhappy

I drank for joy and became miserable 

I drank for sociability and became argumentative 

I drank for sophistication and become obnoxious 

I drank for friendship and made enemies 

I drank for sleep and woke up tired

I drank for strength and felt weak

I drank for relaxation and got the shakes

I drank for courage and became afraid 

I drank for confidence and became doubtful 

I drank to make conversation easier and slurred my speech 

I drank to feel heavenly and ended up like HELL..

Though I'd say re the end.. I ended up in HELL

Hi. Doing good at the mo. The naltrexone is working for me now. Not drank for a few days and took a nalx tonight at 6. Started drinking at 7.15. Still 1/3 bottle of wine left. This drug really does work.

How about you? X

Plus I would like to thank Joanna for supporting me last weekend and talked me through my difficulties. She is so right. Persevering is all you need to get through this. Though I think I've kind of learnt something through Joanna and Paul that it does work better if you've been through a detox or somehow a break from alcohol for a few days, preferably longer. 

Least really if people had the money to have a proper detox or rehab. So sad that this is impossible ☹️

I love this!  Its ALL true.....

​I like the "I drank for courage and became afraid"...and LASTLY.

​I drank to feel heavenly (want to change to)..and ended up IN HELL.

I didn't even see you added "I ended up in HELL" until after I posted my post....so there we go....we all agree...drinking puts us in HELL.

This is spot-on.  Thanks for sharing. I am going to give it to my daughter who will soon be turning 18.  Hopefully she won't search for the magic we alcoholics thought we could find in this drug.

This is what I fear,my children following in my footsteps as I did with my mother.My sons are 17 and 20 and touch wood show no signs of alcoholism.My 17 doesn't drink at all and my 20 year old does but as far as I can see its normal drinking.Looking back i was an alcoholic from the day I tasted alcohol when I was about 9

Joining this Forun is the best thing I haver ever done to help me with my problems because you are all just like me.X

Well done Susan!! 11 days is better then ZERO!! Think of waking up remembering what you did and feeling 100% better and having money to spend on a treat!! go on. You deserve it!! Robin

Hi again.Forgot to say in my previous post,I'm sure the Campral is working (or is it just in my imagination)because the craving are not too bad I can deal with them at the moment or is it because I'm keeping myself very safe although I managed to go to Supermarket yesterday and saw the bottles everywhere but they did'nt bother me too much!Long may this stage last.Does any one know the magic ingredient in Campral ?

Congratulations on getting thru the hard days...11 days is sweet.

And for getting thru the store without being tempted to buy a bottle!

​Those are stepping stones to a stronger recovery.  I know the feeling of leaving a store and avoiding temptation....those kinds of steps give us more confidence and willpower to continue on the journey of LIFE...vs. drowing ourselves in a liquid that only gives us unwell feelings.

Thanks for everyone's replys. Thought you'd all relate to it. Think I'd also change...Drank to be confident but became a coward or timid!!
