A Terrible Perspective

Tell you what fellow hippies I'm not going to moan about my aches and pains any more after hearing this about a lady who works at my golf club, is well liked by everyone there and who was just going home when she was hit by a car

"in terms of injuries, the nurse that I spoke to was happy with her progress. She is a fighter and she had come off breathing equipment yesterday afternoon so was breathing for herself. She has multiple injuries and will not be back to work for some time to come but she is on the road to recovery which I do believe is a miracle and we can all be thankful for this. In terms of injuries suffered the list is fairly long and this is not the complete list but she has a fractured neck, broken ribs, punctured lung, fractured pelvis, torn diaphragm, minor head injuries and a broken leg"

Puts all our troubles into perspective I'd say

Oh Colin as you say something like this puts it all in to perspective. Its so easy to just lose concentration and then fate can take a terrible hand. I do hope that she will make a full recovery.

Hi Colin,

My heart goes out to her.  I too agree that when we hear about the troubles of others, it can make our own troubles smaller.  She has a long road ahead of her and I hope she recovers well.

Our own troubles seem the to be the worst when we are in the middle of them.

Yes our own problems seem to be the centre of the universe until we hear this sort of tragedy. G is still in intensive care and fortunate to be alive. It happened   Just like that. A blink of an eye and has really upset all of us in my golf club.

Poor lady, it does put it all in perspective. What about the neck, hopefully no paralysis?

We don't knoww yet Maggie. Goodness hope not

Totally,

I had a jolt last week when I went to see a close relative with cancer who was in the local hospice - so sad, he died just a couple of days later.

Dear Colin.

Thank you for sharing - once in a while it is good to put things in perspective and  feel grateful fornwhat we have -

Wishing her a good and fast recovery -

big warmhug to you

I just want to say, I'm not trying to one up you or make your friend's sitation seems less important than it is, It sounds asolutely horrible. It reminds me of a friend, when he was in College, he was crossing a street in NYC. A cab had stopped but a man returning a rental car to the airport didn't see it and going full speed, he was crushed beteen to two cars. Crushing his pelvis and everything below it. A lot of internal damage. They thought he'd be living in a wheelchair the rest of his life. Spent close to a year in the hospital, several hospitals. He ended up having a hospital in London be his primary follow up people and did a lot of the surgeries. He has rods for legs. I rebuilt pelvis, knees, you name it. I know he's in constant pain, but won't even take an aspririn. He sure does know when it's going to rain, he said he's like a weather man.

Wow colin,

That is an impressive list of injuries.

Wonder which bit they will fix first?

Shirley

Don't know the answer to that Shirley but I would think the hardest bit to fix will be the psychological damage that's been done.
