Has anyones doctor suspected psc or pbc but then had an MRI done that showed no evidnece of that disease?
Thanks for the help!
i think only a liver biopsy can be the gold standard to rule out those diseases.
oh really? i thought maybe you could see it on an MRi
i think a sample of the tissue is what they need to see to diagnose PBC
brit what are you symptoms ?
not many symptoms just elevated hepatic function panel
what is your ALK PHOS and GGT?
there test for PBC IS THE AMA blood test.
MRI tells the shape and possibly stage of liver.Maybe you dont have damage yet.
best to find out for sure and start treatment as early as possible.
my alk phosphate and ggt are in the 200s
what tests did they do
ive had bloodwork done, ct, mri, biospy and ultrasounds done
the ggt and AP are high. you could be very early stage. does your doctor recommend starting on URSODIOL?
Did the biopsy show anything? what does the AMA show?
I have been on ursodiol for about 9 months. My biopsy was clear with no findings. My ama was negative when i had jt checked.
what is AMA? and does ursodiol help with psc also
this is great news. stay on it. ive had the same story as you and i have been on urso for twenty years. i am only stage 0-1 on the fibroscan.
AMA is a special blood test to check if you have PBC
Sorry, dont know about PSC
What exactly is a fibroscan?
its a non invasive way to stage liver disease without a biopsy.
a quick google will explain it.
but a biopsy also stages liver disease right?
yes, a biopsy will stage but it is good to diagnose PBC
but a fibroscan is good to just stage.
