Hi

My son who is 16 years old has been having stomach issues for quite some time, symptoms include black stools, stomach cramps/pains in centre and leftside, burning anus and nausea.

He was referred urgently to Gastrology back in Feb 2025 as his calprotectin was over 300, he did one a few months ago and it came back at 75. He saw the consultant in June 2025 and an urgent colonoscopy and endoscopy were ordered. He did both test in July.

The endoscopy was normal and the colonoscopy was also normal but they did see possible “lymphoid hyperplasia in the terminal ileum”, 4 biopsies were taken and its been 2 weeks and no results have came back.

The issue i have is that the pain still exists, his anus burns quite often, he still has black stools at least 3 times a week and is nauseous.

My younger child has crohns and we assumed the camera tests will show up something and my child can be treated, is there any further test he can do.

It has effected him throughout his GCSE and we still dont have a diagnosis. Black stools are very dark but not tarry.
