Hello to all that keep this forum going. I was grateful to see one or two recent posts. I suffer every day of my life from abdominal adhesions. I had my first gastric bypass surgery in 2004, the one with the large stomach incision. My small appetite stayed, however, I did not loose all the weight I wanted so I went to Mexico in 2012 for a lap-band to make my stomach smaller. Well, it was a horrible nightmare to say the least. I returned to on a direct flight from San Diego, CA directly to a hospital for 3 days. There was about a five foot piece of gauze left in my stomach they pulled from one of the incisions. All was fine with local dr to give me lapband fills UNTIL I got too full....I felt like I was going to bust..vomited and felt extreme pain and bloated. The dr took me to surgery to remove the band and lysis (burn scar tissue) with almost a bowel obstruction. I left feeling no pain but a failure. 4 months later, the pain returned with a vengeance. I feel pain every single day. I am on pain management 3.5 years since last surgery and nothing else no one will do for me. I literally would not survive without the pain meds, but when I go to pharmacy I feel like a "dirty" bad person cuz I look fine on the outside but my insides are constantly in pain. I have tried a couple of pain patches, with one brand I actually had a few days painfree, at the cost of me being coherent....I had to sleep...could not be normal. I requested a lower dose to function at work. I am sick of the pills and patches!!!. I have tried many times to stop cold turkey saying this is the day there will be no pain, but alas, it stays with me, in my stomach day after day after day....I am going to order the Serrapeptase. I PRAY this will help. I have tried stretching physical therapy, which I feel helps a little bit. I am so harsh on myself for making the decision to go to Mexico (they also used an outdated lap band). It was the most awful experience of my life!
I wanted to know if there were any other gastric bypass patients, that had the surgery without it being laproscopy that suffers from the adhesions? The meds give me short term memory loss...which is so strange....something else that makes me feel embarrassed. Thanks for allowing me to at least talk to people that suffer true abdominal pain that does not show on tests, therefore, drs think does not exist except for in our brains. I had never heard of a "nerve dr". Wow, if I could find one in my area that understands my condition....I would try anything to cut off the nerve endings......BLessings to all ....one day at a time....
