I've had a very strange array of symptoms and am not sure what to do them or what to even think about them. The part that worries me the most is the frequency in which it has happened lately. it starts with my fingertips getting cold and turning numb and painful when that stops i feel like something just above and to the left of my belly button flips inside. if my hand is there i can feel a flip (I'm not pregnant) that's followed by horribly sharp pains that radiate out from it across my stomach. this lasts between 10-15 minutes. when it stops I'm freezing cold and shivering. I then stand in the shower under scalding hot water (it doesn't feel hot) it doesn't warm me up but it helps enough for me not be convulsing from shivering and it takes several hours to actually warm up.
Hello, please contact your primary care doc. or the ER. quickly.
Sounds like panic and anxiety attacks!!!
This isn’t a panic attack.
My advice to you is to go to Emergency ASAP and ask for a CT scan. I Had similar symptoms and a PA at urgent care saved my life. I kept telling the doctors about the pain on the left side and severe chills and sweats and nobody was helping me for two months. I was admitted to the hospital and I had emergency surgery. My toes on one foot went numb too.
Do not be scared but abdominal and colon issues are nothing to waste time about. Now I kept telling the doctors about the pain on the left side and severe chills and sweats and nobody was helping me for two months. I was admitted to the hospital and I had emergency surgery. Do noy be scared but abdominal and colon issues are nothing to waste time about. Now I’m dealing with C-diff And another two months of pain two hospital visits and three primary doctors until the G.I. ran ran a stool test and found the infection that I probably had when all this started and definitely from more antibiotics. Unfortunately I had to learn things the hard way and I am continuing to do so. Keep us updated.
That is an insensitive work on the site
good advice
Omg sounds really painful have you called your doctor maybe do a video chat i hope you can get to the bottom of this. Get better
Great advice. I had perforation. Think you know my story. Can’t leave this stuff.
yes i remember you but it was a bad time so fuzzy. when was your perforation and how are you doing? I still haven’t been able to go for a colonoscopy this c diff infection Which is quite serious to which is quite serious to two days onyx Painbut two days antibiotics and left andomaen pain better.
The reason I thought maybe an anxiety/panic attack because you mention your hands and and such I have gotten with a panic and anxiety attack before, but since for you it’s not then I would call your GP or ER but due to coronavirus you could get advice and maybe even needed antibiotics from the online doctor that see’s you through video, thats the ones I see now because of the coronavirus at least for now.
My perforation was 2 years ago followed by a bowel resection ileostomy bag for 3 months and then a reversal . . Appendectomy last November because of surgical adhesions. . Doing ok but still have issues with back pain.
Again Abdomen problems are not anything to fool around with online go to ER
How long was your recuperation and dealing with your surgeries? I’m afraid that’s what I’m going to have to deal with after getting c diff.
Hi Sara, This does sound serious and I hope you’ve taken the advice of the other replies and already gone to ER (or A&E - depending on where you are!).
Antibiotics are mentioned a few times here and I just want to remind everyone that they can be (and need to be) very powerful to help overcome certain problems. Unfortunately they all bring side effects with them - some types more than others.
A common antibiotic used in DD and colon cases is Cipro or Ciprofloxacin , which is a fluoroquinolone (others are Levofloxacin/Levaquin, Moxifloxacin/Avelox and Ofloxacin/Floxin). This fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics have had several warnings issued about them (MHRA Drug Safety Updates/FDA Black Box) including in 2019. If you are prescribed Cipro be aware that you can help protect yourself by taking probiotics, not exactly at the same time but at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after. These will help replenish your gut flora from the effects of the antibiotic (which can lead to bad bugs getting out of control as in C.Diff cases (divernotfun).
A study showed that taking antioxidants while on Cipro can possibly prevent adverse reactions from occurring so it’s worth taking these as well. The side effects (or adverse reactions) are known to be serious, persistent and potentially disabling in SOME cases. The problem is, no one knows who will be affected and who won’t (your doctor will say it’s very unlikely to happen - but it does happen, and he hasn’t got any magic powers!).
Panic attacks are also a common side effect but the most common are muscle and tendon aches, pains and (in the worst cases) rupture. Read the warnings on the packet leaflet, discuss all options with your doctor and, if they say Cipro is the only answer (or actually, with any antibiotic) please do consider taking probiotics (live yoghurt or capsules) and antioxidants - but a few hours apart from the antibiotic so both things have time to do their job.
thank you everyone for your replies ill be contacting urgent care asap to try to get in since ours are still a little wonky from coronavirus but i will update as soon as i know anything. also thank you for taking this seriously and answering me i kept telling saying something was wrong and no one was listening
This is a great forum for good advice. Very knowledgeable people on this, and always answer. Keep us updated.
Very good advice. When you’re in a life-threatening situation it’s hard to make choices and I’ve had to learn the hard way.
My surgeon had me stay out of work for 6 weeks. I’m so glad I had colon resection and now have my life back. i lived in pain and fear for couple years.
that is how i feel. what happened before surgery? these doctors keep throwing out surgery to me without knowing my case. waiting for mri results and we will see if 4 months was just from an unnecessary drainage. i am really tired ans nap every day but otherwise all is much better bowelwise so curious what happed to you while waiting for surgery?
