please help me. Age 53 active: history of depression treated. Heat flashes suck but treated. It's my anger! Rage! I'm irrational!!! It could ruin my marriage! NOTE: women in my family are KNOWN for going nuts during menopause : mean depression etc. I do believe what I thought was abuse or being unwanted is my mom (an older mom) and sisters were battling this.
i humbly ask advice: I'm an older mom too - I'm going to fight this. Can you help me? They've given me a bag of anti depressants that help some: I excersize BUT as have warned my Gyno I'm terrified due to family history and I'm acting just off!!!
Hi Sarah, what an amazing post. I had all the typical Peri menopause symptoms but for me the worst by far was my uncontrollable moods and anger was one of them. There is a history of mood disorders in my family with my mother suffering from bipolar disorder and the last few years of her life she had very severe psychosis. My moods would go from confusion to depression with obsessive thinking and terrible anger. I got to a point where it scared me as I started to lose control. I often found myself hiding in the bathroom so my boyfriend couldn't see me when I felt the rage or I'd just sit in there and cry. I realized it was hormone imbalance and I now know that I have very high estrogen and my body hates it. It actually makes me crazy. I started bio identical hormones six months ago and am finally feeling good again. I know if i hadn't found help I would've destroyed my relationship and maybe my life. I was truly becoming unhinged. Have you had your hormones checked?
Bach remedy "Cherry Plum" might really help you with this. I also use "Rescue remedy" by Bachs for this as well.
Cherry Plum really helps when I get irrational/angry/suicidal. I have this in my family as well, and it scares me! I was actually in a suicidal state over it at one point and Bachs turned my life around in a day. No waiting weeks for it to start working. Somehow it changes your thinking. I have no idea how it actually does it, but it does, and you can get it at most health food stores or order it online.
What is Bach? I've never heard of it and it's good to know about it as I'll be 53 this year and this portion of menapause has been creeping up on me and was wondering about what to help with it.
