About to have GB removed

I've always had a sensitive stomach and very little could be pinpointed as to what was irritating it. Spaghetti was a huge trigger for me. I've always just had episode where I felt sick since I was in elementary school. At 16 I was told I had too much stomach acid and put on nexium. Over the past 10 years I have gotten severe chest pain into back and was always diagnosed aa pluricy. I've also had trouble swallowing at times and would have severe pain in my esophagus.

4 months ago I was hit hard with something. I first thought I had food poisoning. I was feverish and throwing up. I had pain in my left side mainly but also in my right side some. It only got worse. My doctor put me on a bland food diet and put me on some anti nausea meds but it kept getting worse. It doesn't help that this doctor wanted to max out my insurance with her. I was having pains in my legs and almost passing out. I would start seeing black spots on the edge of my vision and it would start closing in and noise would start becoming that wha wha wha sound. I was randomly clammy and hot. I never did pass out fully but it was scary. My bowels were back and forth from diarrhea to constipation.

She finally sent me to a gi specialist who could care less to actually make eye contact and hear me out. He wanted an ultrasound and endoscopy done and offered to do the colonoscopy as well which I wanted done all at once because something was wrong. He said I had some polyps in my colon. I have a small hiatal hernia which does explain many symptoms. I had irritation in my stomach lining and my biopsy showed inflammation. They wanted to find out why it was inflammed so they had me go in for some lab work. That came back negative and they just dropped me. They had no recommendations as to what to do next. I ended up with a prescription for Zantac and that was it from them.

I had found a new dr and needed to see them, actually saw the practitioner for something else and was going to get their opinion on my previous diagnosis. She said that nothing was right and I should have a real diagnosis so she did some tests and sent me to another specialist. The pain got worse on my left side like someone was zapping me with a cattle prod just behind the lower ribs on my left side before I could see the new specialist and I ended up in the ER with no answers still. I did realize that my blood pressure dropped a lot. I knew it had been lower than normal but it fluctuated quite a bit but they weren't watching my blood pressure except when they first put me in the room.

Finally I saw the new specialist, well practitioner there too, who poked on the center of my stomach and caused me pain. She thought maybe it could be my gallbladder. She set me up for a current ultrasound and hida scan. She said to tell the tech of any pain I may have during it but they didn't seem to care. The first portion made my chest feel gurgly with a bit of heartburn. The second part gave me lot of heartburn with some pain that started in the left and ended up mainly on my right side.

That evening was a whole different ball game. I started feeling rough a couple hours later and by early that evening I felt like I had the flu. I was running a low grade fever. My head was pounding and I couldn't even blink without it sending pulsating pain through my skull. I was so nauseous that I was scared to even move. I knew if I threw up the pain in my head would get worse. It was an endless cycle and I had forgotten to get a prescription for anti nausea medicine. Then came back pain. I felt like my guts had wrapped around my spine and were trying to break my back. This lasted for 4 days slowly getting better each day.

It has been almost 2 weeks since the hida scan and I still have this low grade fever and hot sensation. I have a lot of stabbing pain in the center of my chest just below my sternum. The nausea is just as bad as it was prior to the hida scan but I still get bursts where it gets as bad as it did right after the hida scan but doesn't last as long.

The results have back at 50% but the pain concerned them. They talked it over with the doctor and decided my gallbladder needs to be removed. I see the surgeon tomorrow for my consultation.

My concern at this point is that it may not be my gallbladder since my pain initially didn't mimick what most people feel and I cannot pin point anything to specific types of foods. I do have a friend who has told me since day 1 to get my GB checked but dummy me thought my drs already did check it anyways. His daughter had a similar experience and it was her GB. I just don't want to go through all of this to wake up right where I started at minus an organ!

Has anyone had a similar experience?

I had the same symptoms for over 10 years, it would come and go I would go to emergency rooms ect they ran different test for years, colonoscopy, endoscopy, blood work, cat scans, everything was normal but in last year or so none of my symptoms would go away so I went to a specialist and he said I'm leaning towards your GB but it looks normal but let's do a HIDA SCAN, it came back 92% which means over active GB so finally he figured it out. I have been suffering for a long long time it has ruined my life literally!!! I got GB removed and feel so much better like a new person. I'm a man and it made me cry because I feel so good!!!! Not saying its 100% your GB but most likely it is I would say 75%-85%

I desperately want it to be my GB so we can have answers and get it out. I've hardly been able to work for the past 4 months. I'm either in unbearable pain, vomitting, feeling like I'm going to pass out, or drained from not sleeping well due to any of the above. The heartburn has almost put me in the ER a few times too because it felt like a heart attack and wouldn't stop. I sleep with tums under my pillow.

I've read a lot of horror stories thanks to the Internet and without specific signs I'm worried. My mom had hers out around my age or a little younger. She had stones due to bad fad diets and probably birth control too. I couldn't take BC as the hormones made me very sick. She has had no negative side effects from her gb being taken out.

Most likely it's your GB get it out, surgery it's not bad at all. I was hesitant at first getting it out but it's the only option and I'm glad I did. I was going thru the same pain as you. If you told someone they wouldn't understand the pain. As soon as I woke up from surgery I felt pain from the surgery but instant relief from my symptoms
