I guessed H Pylori it’s this spell check on here. It’s hard work getting them to understand and it’s not somewhere we want to be a gp surgery, I hate it. At least you are getting bloods checked. The diaphragm is near the hernia that’s why it can cause back ache, it’s this internet I should stop googling. Forums like this are good though as we can relay information weve learned from our vists to gps etc. I feel fine thank you, it’s the Zantac it works I think. Look after yourself x if I learn anything I’ll post it.
Hi Kate,
ive had, compared to most, mild symptoms. Mostly it’s bloating, feeling of a need to burp and terrible growling in my belly as the air just builds. I went to see the Dr as I knew something had changed from before. Got to see a specialist on the NHS. He didn’t diagnose GERD as my symptoms were so mild and I didn’t get heartburn at all. Said it was up to me if I wanted an endo or not. I took one and he found damage to the oesophogus. He gave me Omezaprol. Works pretty well and take x2 20mg for a period when I flares up.
This last week or so it has and I’ve had the dull ache between the shoulder blades and lower back. First time. It normally takes a few days for the omezaprol to make a significant difference, but once it did, the ache between the shoulder blades dissipated. Back is much reduced as well.
As a side...we give our dog Tumeric paste capsules. I find this helps. One in the AM and again in the evening about 20 mins or so before bed. Have a look at Kefir pro biotic. My wife brews it at home. It a simple process. Might work.
Hi Paul
Tks for the info, just hope this back pain goes soon it's very debilitating, interesting what you say about turmeric, might give it a go, hope you feel well again soon.
Back pains and chills are sure cause of acid reflux. PPI (Esomeprazole) dissipated symptoms within days. After stopping PPIs a week ago, my back pain and chills are back.
Same here Ashley. The PPI stopped my symptoms and the chills and the horrid nausea went were you just have no appetite with it. Since the PPI and feeling better I’ve gained some weight. Still no appointments through yet though a letter of acknowledgement from the hospital and to chase it up if nothing heard within eight weeks, the wait is stupid on NHS sometimes.
Hi Stuart
How are you getting on, have you stopped the ppi completely? My GP took bloods agatladt week all came back clear, just waiting on the amalays for pancreas, she wants me to try triple therapy antibiotics for h polyri as she says ppi can often hide the fact infection when tested, are you managing on just gaviscon?
Hi Kate,
how owe are you have your symptoms eased a bit? My stool test for H Pylori was negative so I’m relieved. I wasn’t on PPI then like now too. You can come off the PPI for a few weeks before the test so they are out your system. I go for ultrasound on Thursday of abdomen so I’ll let you know about it. I hate these things causes me stress worrying I’m sure you’re the same. Are the antibiotics treating you ok, no ill effects?
I have exactly the same symptoms and have had them for 4 weeks now. Burping, feeling gassy, reduced appetite, nausea after eating, nasty taste in mouth at times. I also get some pain between shoulder blades too which feels like burning. I have these awful chills after eating and on and off throughout day. I feel cold and shivery.
My Gastroenterologist consultant has said it is reflux and has prescribed ranitidine. The back pain does reduce when I've taken the Zantac. My bloods were all clear and an abdominal ultrasound showed nothing. I'm concerned that I ought to be having an endoscopy or possibly trying PPI's to perhaps reduce the chills as I feel unwell when I have them? Several of you report success with PPI's? Thanks
Hi
it’s good your bloods and ultrasound were ok. I took the PPI for two and a half weeks then they gave may bad headaches so came off them and it had all gone, no burping etc I’m awaiting an endoscopy as the consultant who I was seen by last week said he wanted to be sure everything was ok. Also because my grandma died of stomach cancer. My pain has gone as well between shoulder blades but I’m still chilly, I wonder if you are like me and suffer meno symptoms. Sometimes the chilly feeling after eatI get can be adrenalin from food or blood sugar spikes.
Hi Sue,
I also questioned the stomach cancer testing as my dad died of stomach cancer 2 years ago (he was 71 though and I am 40). However, my consultant said the single biggest risk factor is testing positive for h pylori and I tested negative so he felt it doesn't warrant further investigation. I might give the lanzaprazole a try as I've a similar bought of this type of symptoms 2 years ago and like you, 2 weeks of lansaprazole stopped the symptoms .
Yes I get the chills and pains in my shoulders and upper arms. I'm so glad I've heard someone else experience this .
