im curious. is there a way to know how much accommodation a person has left in their vision? when a high myope over 60 is able to see very close without glasses (the myopia superpower) is that because of accommodation? just curious and thx
No, that is not accommodation, when you take your glasses off and use your myopia to read. The measure of accommodation is the ability to see near when your vision is fully corrected for distance. So if you have contacts or pure distance eyeglasses on (without progressive or bifocal lenses), you have good accommodation when you can read normally at a normal distance (not holding documents away from your eyes.

At 60 years or older you should still have between 0.75 and 1.75 Diopters of accomodation. It allows you to see closer than without accomodation.
