I am faced with decision of both distance, one distance one intermediate, one fiance and one near or accomodating iols. Been near sighted all my life. Can't imagine not being able to see anything close without glasses. Am writing this on my smart phone. Couldn't possibly do that with both distance for example. I heard accomodating lenses see both distance and some intermediate but that it doesn't work as well as described. Multi focal is out because glasses,won't correct for lack of contrast and low light vision and halos. Anyone out there know anything about accomodating lenses?
I am faced with the same decision and am presently very near sighted and delighted to easily use my smart phone. Visual acuity and night vision is important to me, so I am not going to choose either multi focal or accommodating lenses. I am willing to wear glasses all the time and am reluctantly leaning toward going with my less dominant eye intermediate (hopefully my computer would be clear) and my dominant eye far. I would then use bifocals for near. My doctor is encouraging me to correct for near because it is what I am used to. However, I think I prefer to put my glasses on in the morning and not be bothered by them again (as I always have) and this seems like the only way to do it. I have never used bifocals, but without my thick lenses I think I can adjust.
You don't get good visual,acuity or night vision with accomodating iol's? So u r electing monovision? I heard that accomodating gives u same acuity as monofocal but u can see intermediate too. No?
Actually, I am not choosing accommodating lenses because I have heard that for some people they do no accomodate, and because I have also heard that after the passage of time they can stop accomodating. I don't have any personal experience.
