Aced My Checkup

Got back from the Doctor today for my 11 week followup checkup and walked away with a great outcome. My X-Ray's looked good, my incisions and internal tissues are healing very well, tested my walk, no limp and got a big pat on the back for being diligent with my self rehab. Also got my clearance to return to work June 8th. Aced that checkup with flying colors.

kthat is such good news hope your recovery continues, I had my 8 week check up on my TKR and he didn't even look at my knee, just asked could I bend it and straighten it, tried to tell him about swelling and pain at the back of knee, but he says nothing I am saying is unusual, so do I take it that's good, see him again end of June.

Hi Susan .... well done girl !!!! you must feel as if you passed an exam and graduated ..... good luck with returning to work - enjoy the days you are still at leisure and keep up the good work .... big hug and celebrating with you

Congratulations Susan.  Hope your return to work will also have a great outcome.

That's exactly how I felt, or like I won some contest haha. I am now in my 11th week and so far have had a trouble free recovery. Yes there are days when I still get a bit sore, especially after doing stairs but even that is only every now and then. So there really is light at the end of the tunnel for those out there wondering if they are ever going to be right again, especially during those early weeks of recovery. I thanked my surgeon for giving me back my life as that is exactly how I felt after years of crippling misery. Got a hug from my wonderful surgeon.

Thanks Mic, yes we seem to be pretty lucky. I actually am surprised my recovery has gone so well expecially having not just your average hip replacement. I had to have all that hardware removed from my femur from a fracture last year before they could implant the hip prothesis. I feel amazing, I have my life back. I just pray everyone here on the forum resolves their challanges so they also can move on to a wonderful pain free life.

Thanks Barbara. I'm a nurse in the very Operating Room where I had my procedure so it will be great so see all my co-workers after 12 weeks. I was told yesterday by my Doctor who I also work with everyone misses me lol. That's good to know. I just have be careful not to overdo it.

I have to admit I'm really have an awesome surgeon, he listens to every issue I have. It bothers me alot when doctors just blow you off, never really give you the time and attention you deserve and really listen to what is happening. I hope your next visit goes better.

Excellent news. Good luck with your return to work.

Different regions seem to have different check up times. Mine is just after 6 weeks on the 9th and if everything is ok I don't expect another one. Fingers crossed.

I had 3, 1 two weeks after surgery to removed the stitches, 2nd 4 weeks later and this 3rd one another 4 weeks later. I won't have to go back again unless I have a problem and since I also work in the same O.R. as my surgeon I see him everyday so if there's a problem I can let him know.

Great!! Susan, well done you! now treat yourself to something nice, you so deserve it,

love, Lynne.

I had a nurse come to my house to remove the clips at two weeks.

Thats fantastic news Susan, so pleased for you.  I go for my 6 weeks check up tomorrow night and hoping for restrictions to be lifted x
