Ache after physiotheraphy

Hi,

I'm 7 weeks post op and I've started going to physiotheraphy since last week.

After physio, I feel numbness in my previously operated hip. My newly operated hip is doing fine. Has anyone had a similiar experience, why can be the reason for this situation?

Thanks for your comments,

Desire

Hi Desire, I too have a previously

operated hip (February 2017) which I feel is weaker than my newly done hip (late June 2017) I put this  down to the fact that  when the first hip had been done it was taking a lot of strain from the extremely painful unoperated one and didn't  quite have the chance to be exercised or rested properly. I am now concentrating on them both equally in the hope that exercise and proper walking will bring it on along with the new. Hope this makes sense! JEM

hi desire,

I agree with JEM - when was your 1st THR surgery?

I have similar experiences - 2nd THR was 6 months post-op 1st one and had no chance really to heal properly -

even now, many moons post-op, it feels as it is the weakest leg ...

Remember that you have 2 new hips, - your body has to get used to new posture, walking, sitting etc -

I am not sure what to say about "numbness" though   - Maybe have that checked out ?

Please let us know how you are getting on otherwise !

big warm hug

Thank you Renee,

My first op was 2 years ago. And it was very succesfull, I was very well for one year. Then the other hip started aching and troubling me which led to my second THR in mid July this year...

My doctor also says it takes time for the body to adjust to the new hip.

I think I'm a bit impatient...

Thanks for your comments,

All the best

Desire,

Desire,

Sorry to hear that the hips are not doing exactly the way they should.  ---My 1st THR went perfect, except during rehab I did too many leg lifts and my muscles completely shut down for a while.  Got that behind  me in a few weeks and then back on track.  Then about 5 years later, the pain/weakness in the hips and legs started returning and I had the 2nd THR 10/2016 and the replacement seemed to go fine, but the pain returned shortly there after.  Doctors assured me that things were fine with the hip; but that I needed spine work in the L4/L5/S1 area.  So far Have had 2 surgeries within a month to fix the spine; but still have severe pain after sitting and trying to return to walking.  I basically have to stand and wait until my right leg finally settles down and becomes useful.  Still searching for the cause and cure.

sorry to hear

checking in with you !

how is the numbness?

My surgeon told me that I should not compare the 2 surgeries ... of course I did - how can we not ?

but he is right -

Thinking of you - relax and be gentle with your self (and your hips)   - your body is a wonderland !

remember that - it is healing all by  herself and you just have to allow her for now ...

angel blessings

know that all is well

Dear Renee,

How kind of you to check in with me😘

I'm doing fine, the stiffness in my previously operated leg left itself to a "feeling" below my buttock. It is not hurting but it says "ı'm here" ... I don't know what it is but hope that it will pass with time as well.

My newly operated hip is fine, it is as though I'm operated from my left hip((

Best wishes

Desire
