I fell at work March 29, 2018. I have been told when I saw the er doctor it's a simple sprain. The pain has gotten worse and worse. I was put in a walking boot and extreme physical therapy for 3 months to no avail. Then I saw a podiatrist after I got an MRI done. He said I'm fine and to pray the pain away. He gave me a discontinued brace with no support in it and a 2 times too small compression stocking. I immediately rolled my ankle again. I saw my second opinion, and his jaw dropped at the brace I was given and told me I'm in a cast immediately. So I had a cast for 2 weeks then back to the walking boot. It still didn't help. He ordered another MRI just to be sure and put me in another cast. I got the cast off the day I got the MRI, and have been a walking boot since. It's been 6 months total. I saw my doctor again for the results. I still have a sprained ankle on my posterior talo-fibular ligament and my tibia-fibular ligament. I also have Achilles tendonitis posterior tibial tendonitis and plantar fasciitis. I also now have a ganglion cyst on the back of my Achilles tendon. They think I actually fractured my tallus bone and my Achilles tendon shrunk so I can't even bed my foot 90 degrees. They want to cut off part of my tallus bone and lengthen my Achilles and get rid of the cyst. Anyone have this kind of surgery before? What am I getting into?

Geez, there for a minute I thought you were going to say they would have to cut off your foot. I’ll bet it feels like you would like to cut it off to rid you of the pain.
My advice is find the best ankle surgeon available. You have gotten some bad advice and you don’t have time to mess around.
I went to different doctors for 6 months and they all thought they knew what the problem was but the pain got so bad I couldn’t stand it. I found a surgeon who just did ankles.
4 months later I’m walking without pain.
I had a major ankle arthritis problem so it was difficult for awhile but it was ok with me cause the pain after surgery didn’t come close to the pain before surgery.
You're not wrong. I kind of wish just take it off so I can feel better. My problem is this is all through workers comp so I have to go to whoever they tell me to go to. But I have a team of 6 doctors now that I trust. I'm just worried about what this means and if I'll be able to get back to work. I'm a waitress
It's great to get improvement after ankle surgery. Which type of surgery did you have?
I didn't have surgery yet
I had a triple fusion with all kinds of hardware put in and bone grafting.
They also did some stretching of my archilies .
Yes you will be able to get back to work but it takes time to heal. So plan on a few months before you even think about it. If you don’t you won’t heal properly and the pain will never go away. Find a knee scooter .....it was my salvation and the time went fast.
Knee scooters are amazing. I have a genetic skin disease where my skin is super thin and can rip and tear in sensitive areas like under my arms so I can't use crutches. My knee scooter has saved me. I've had it for 6 months now. It's fun going down hills on it haha (pretty much my only source of fun outside since I got hurt)
