Aching muscle above knee

Hi, had PKR four moths ago, normal recovery, good bend/straight but now get an ache above my knee and leg feels stiff but not the knee. This happens most days.  Back to work now sitting at a desk but I do get up every hour.

Sorry I don't know the answer why but I had surgery a couple of months ago, although not a PKR, but anyway I'm also experiencing a deep aching pain above the knee and my leg feels heavy

I can only assume it is something to do with the muscles being effected by the surgery somehow?  I hope it improves over time

When did you return to work after surgery? Tracy x

Went back after 3 months. Been back a month, office very cold so usually have to have a blanket around my legs.

Hi Tracy. I'm 4 weeks post TKR and have that same tight muscle above my knee. It almost feels like my quads attach to something there and they're really angry! The tightness there hinders my bend too. I do have to say though that it has started to loosen just a tiny bit in the last week. Let's hope it's better for both of us soon.

Hi. I've been told by PT's and other TKR patients that after surgery you change the style of your gate, steps and length of strides "caus" you have a new and hopefully better body part. You've been walking on old parts for years??? Now those parts are different.

Your mussels need to adjust to this new way of walking. It's kinda like any other new exercises, you are using mussels that you haven't used properly in quite awhile and so they are getting sore with the new activity.

Are you still doing PT? Everything I've read or heard is you MUST continue to to the proscribed therapy moves with or without your PT.

I'm a week out from TKR. I do religiously my exercises. They hurt like heck BUT at the end of each session my pain is less than before I started the session. It gets better each day. To be trite "No pain No Gain"

If you don't have a physical issues infections etc. the do the exercises. And talk to your Doctor.

Good luck.

Don

Hi Tracy - I had a PKR at the beginning of Nov and went back to office job at beginning of January. I try to get up hourly and I'm always stiff for the first few steps. I've noticed lately that by the time I get home I am having trouble with the steps and pain at night. Maybe everyone is right that our other muscles are trying to catch up, but I am a little worried to. Hope you start feeling better
