Hi i am about to start a suppressive treatment using Aciclovir 400mg, the doctor has advised me to use 800mg a day, however i really want to use 400mg a day to suppress and then 800mg if i have an outbreak - can anybody confirm what dosage they use to suppress HSV2 and how effective it is
I take 400 mg twice a day to suppress HSV2. I just started it. So that is all of the information that I have but my fiance has been taking it daily for awhile and this is also the same dosage as he is prescribed. 400mg twice a day is actually what is recomended to be prescribed as a supressive treatment.

If your getting over an outbreak you can start it now. It will help you get over it faster. I also take vitamin c. Vitamin c is a miracle to use wth hsv2 I don't remember the recommended dose of vitamin c but I use it like crazy during an outbreak. But definitely use it as a preventative too. (:
Hi thanks for the infomation i think it has been recommended to use 1000mg of vit C a day - have you had any side effects like burning between your thighs since taking the suppressive dose?
