So well this started happening a few days ago. i started having breathing problems. but then it stopped and i started getting chest pain, sharp and dull, mostly on the right side. and also in the morning i feel my throat is all clogged up and i end up coughing a lot. but its over in the morning. the rest of the day i have no coughing problem. but the chest pain has been going on for a week now. also both my arms hurt. is something wrong with me like my heart or lungs or is it just acid reflux and a bunch of anxiety? Please help. freaking out here.
Hi mum11 - sorry you are in so much anxiety. It is common with acid reflux to have breathing problems, in fact about 10% of asthma diagnoses are actually reflux-caused. You tend to get a lot of mucus in your throat due to reflux.
The pain could possibly be due to some of the acid getting inhaled into the top of your lungs.
However, as a precaution with any chest pain which is new you should definitely go to your GP and get it checked out to make sure its not to do with your heart.
Its not surprising you are so anxious - you need to find out what is happening and get some certainty and treatment if necessary.
Good luck.
but i am 20. do you think this has something to do with my heart? is their a chance it could be cancer?
Im not a medical person mum11 so it would be inappropriate for me to rule anything out. But Ive been told in the past that doctors start with the most likely possibility, which given your symptoms, which i recognise myself, IMO these would be most likely to be reflux.
But surely the uncertainty is one of the main things causing your anxiety, so my advice would be to get to the GP asap.
