This is the first time I have visited this site and I can not believe how many people have encountered the same problems in trying to get a cure for acid reflux. I am now on my 5th consultant, I started suffering from acid reflux in 2002 and was put on to losec, this kept the symptoms under control for the first couple of years but them the symptoms gradually got worse. I am currently on 80mg a day. I have had 2 endoscopys, baruim meal ultra sound scan and also a PH mamometry that I could not tolerate. The consultant I was under was not happy to do the surgical procedure as she did not have the results of the PH tests and she thought the symptoms could be related to something else even though my barium meal shown large amonts of acid reflux. The symptoms I have suffered from during this time are:
Difficulty Swallowing
Regurgutation of food
heartburn
Chest pains
Vomiting
I have only in February of this year found a consultant that I am happy with, he can not believe I have been allowed to suffer for so long and is happy to do the surgery without the results of the PH tests. I am due to have surgery next weds 13/06/07. Hoefully this will cure some of my symptoms and I can start enjoying my life again. I will let you know how it goes.
