Actual cataract operation phobia and concern

Hi I am having an cataract operation soon, but i have some concerns. i will be given sedation in the form of tablets, because of claustrophobia, but i do not know how strong that will be, i also suffer from various medical condition, rheumatoid arthritis and Ulcerative colitis, which make it difficult for me to lie still and i can not lie flat on my back. Hope somebody can answer some questions of concern to me. Do you have to lie flat on your back? do you have to lie still? how well do these medication for sedation work? At the dentist i get gas and air so more or less out of it, which i am looking for. Thanks

Yes, you do have to lie flat on your back and it is very important to stay still. Some choose to use only the local freezing drops in the eye. I chose to get a sedative via IV, as recommended by my doctor. You are not totally under but kind of out of it. This is the method I would recommend using. After the operation you come right out of it quickly, but are told not to drive. But, driving is not recommended in any case due to the vision issues of just having had your eye operated on.

Yes, that is what I normally get, or gas and air, but they only do sedation tablets here and I am trying to get an opinion about how well they work as you remember nothing with the iv one.
