Hi, new to the group.
I have just been discharged from hospital after an attack of acute pancreatitis, having discussed with the hospital that I don’t drink a lot or binge drink, but have a thyroid issue they still put it down to drink! I find this hard to accept as I think the problem lies with the endocrine system as the pancreas belongs to this any one any info, advice?
I have chronic pancreatitis not caused by alcohol. I also have IBD which doctor says could have caused the pancreatitis. It's a real bummer because this has had led to a fairly strict diet as this condition will likely result in being diabetic. I feel for you Sarah, but glad you're out of the hospital.

I don't know Sarah how much you've researched your issue, but having a pancreas problem could well affect your glucose. Over here in Hawaii, white rice is the food of choice with nearly every meal and I've had to give that up. I hope you like quinoa! Changing my diet has really helped keep A1c/glucose down as well as minimizing the very bad episodes of stomach aches as well. I don't touch alcohol at all which takes an adjustment to life when you're around others who do.

I am still researching, but had already made a lot of dietary changes due to having thyroid disease.
When I was in hospital they measure my sugars daily, here in uk if it’s above 15 and below 5 it’s a concern, mine was any where between 5.5 and 7 I’m aware that this could be a problem in the future. So a lot more research for me to do!! Ps I can’t stand quinoa!!!
