Was just wondering peoples post surgery experiences having had adrenalectomy... when did u start to notice changes in weight, blood pressure, pains, swellness, acne? An when could u start to do activities like the gym, socialise an back to work?
I am so glad that you have had your op and I am sure that once you body has had time to recover from the overdose of cortisol things will start to improve. I did not have the same op as you but I am sure that others will reply once the Christmas period is over. If you have anything about the op or how you felt after please do share. It will help us to know how to respond to other people. As to when you can start to do exercise etc your Endo will advise but I would think as soon as YOU feel up to it. Heres to a great 2018 for you.
Thank u Vicky. I haven’t been great if I’m honest. I was on hydrocortisone 40mg when I got out of hospital an then they said my other adrenal was workin to stop the steriods. So I did. Two days later it all started, the awful nausea my face totally broke out. The nauesa lasted two weeks, an still now feel slightly sicky. I’m stil sore, not as bad but still pains, I’ve few rash’s an very dry skin. It not an easy recovery which I was well warned about. But when does it all turn corners an get better? An then I still may have activity in my other adrenal. So I’m not sure at min what they’re doin with me or will I get rid of Cushing’s if the other adrenal is affected? It sucha crap syndrome! I’m fed up of feelin unwell. I want my life back.
I had an adrebolectomy 6 months ago. Since then I’ve lost 40 lbs, blood pressure perfectly normal after the first month. Bones are still achy but are better. Can’t wait till that is gone. My other adrenal gland has started working but I’m still on hydrocortisone 20 mg a day. I will be until my adrenal gland is working at 100 %. I do blood work again at the end of the month. I do my normal life. I work, travel and relax. I’m not 100% but I’m getting better.
From what I've read it is important not to
Go over 20 mg of hydrocortisone
Some people do well on a dosage of about 2-4 mg
Be careful of rashes , etc
You never know if they are because of an allergy to meds
The dry skin ciuld be from a condition called diabetes insipidus
It is the result of dehydration
Thanks Courtnay. I think the rashes were definitely a post op thing, as in my hormones were up the left havin lost a gland that controlls these things. Rashes have all cleared up now thankfully. I know I’ve a much way to go but I’m so so much better compared to what I was.
Thanks Vicky. U are doin so well. Brillant progress. I’m glad to hear ur working and traveling. I’m definately feelin much better compared to what I was. Although I’ve still high blood pressure an weight an odd pain an ache. But I’m deswelling. It just a slow progress but the doctors said that all along. I would like a Lower blood pressure tho 🤔
hi
glad your surgery went well
just was thinking about your high blood pressure
there are a bunch of natural things you can do to lower your blood pressure
if you are not taking meds for blood pressure
you can drink grapefruit juice and/or
grapefruits
