Advice: Coming off cita after 2 months still getting headaches & nausea

Hi All

Hope everyone is feeling better today.

I was on Cita for 6 months. Started last Sept on 10mg, worked up to 20 then April tapered off down to 5mg until completely off from May 1st.

So 2 months later after initial bad side effects at the start i seem to be great for a week then get hit with for 2 or 3 days of bad headaches, terrible tiredness, slight nausea sick feeling and fearfullness/anxiety.

Anybody else go through the same when they came off ?

and wondering how long this lasts for weeks/months/years ? - or do i need to go back on to Cita again which im determined not to.

Thanks for any advice & for those just starting out keep battling on as I promise it gets better. BUT BE AWARE you need to tolerate at least 8 weeks of a variety of nasty side effects before you start to turn the corner.

All the best

Carl

My device is if you felt better on CIT. Why come off

I believe once you had a taste of anxiety it never leaves you. My wife been on meds for 35 years .and my self for 12 month's I feel great on CIT font ever want those awfull feelings back in my life

Thank you Carl, have just started week 4 on 10mg. I am so glad you are managing to come off it, even though you are having some bumpy WD symptoms. I hope it settles soon. Just curious as to wether you felt a lot better after the initial 8 weeks, and was it a worthwhile exercise in terms of medication for you? Good going! Lee.

Why do you want to go off CITA and are you doing it with GP supervision. Your regimen seems strange

Hi Gawen

Preferably i dont want to be reliant on Cit forever so am trying to come off under GP supervision.

Lee yes absolutely helped me massively after the 8-10 week period. Bumpy ride till that point though.

1) My question was to other people who have come off - what were their experiences and whether they rode out a bumpy ride with determination and how long did it take to fully recover/90% recover.

2) Also other than Diazepam prescribed by my GP is there any other medication that can be taken to help with the odd bouts of fearfullness/panic/anxiety.

Cheers Carl

Hey Carl, I'm no help however I guess they can take a long time to get past withdrawals, hang in there buddy awesome work getting thru it well done! keep us posted on how its going!

Hey Carl, I also have same concerns as yourself, I was on cita for 4 months, but off completely for 1 month, haven't had really horrible withdrawals, but bad enough to be very annoying. One day feel great the next headache , tired and I've had this neck pain that seems to be getting better but yet the next day it's terrible! I also have gained a few pounds being on cita and trying to lose it is really challenging, curious if anybody else went through the same thing with the weight and if it comes off easier once this is out of your body?? I'm staying positive, even though sometimes I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. But I'm not going back on cita, so I think we gotta hang in there Carl and stay strong and control our own destiny!!

Hi. Carl,

Glad to hear you are off Citalopram.

I have been off them for just over 3 weeks now and I was on them for 18 months.

The initial withdrawal symptons were awful and lasted about 2 1/2 weeks.

I thought at first I'd done the wrong thing and was contemplating going back on them but deep down I knew that the tablets had done there job and it was now time for me

to go it alone(If you know what I mean)

I'm not as far as you yet Carl and I'm sure I'm going to be challenged like you are being.

All the best and good luck.

Shazzer. X
