Advice ( is this normal )

Hi

So I’m 2 weeks and 5 days into taking citalopram 10mg. So far it has done wonders for me. I started to feel better fairly quickly with the odd side affect here and there.

Not really had a bad day in around 2 weeks now.

Anyway today I had a scheduled coil removal which failed due to the doctor being unable to find the strings etc. So I have to be referred to another place. Any it was fairly uncomfortable and has caused some mild cramping etc. However I’ve felt anxious again mostly because I have felt exhausted and in pain. Then I get a heavy head and headache with a dull ache around my shoulders and neck which actually causes the anxiety.

Is this normal to have these off days. Think I’ve probably dealt with a fair bit of stress today so I’m not surprised I feel like this. Hoping an early night will help. But just wanted to know if this is common even if I have been feeling well for a while.

Hi Sarah

I used to take citalopram myself and was usually put on 20mg to 40mg daily. 10mg is usually a starting dose so it may be worth going to your GP and asking for it to be increased to 20mg. I was on 20mg for many months and felt great. No anxiety or panic attacks at all. In the past when Ive been extremely bad I have been put up to 40mg. Hopefully you should feel your normal self again soon x

Hi Sarah,

I started Citalopram at the beginning of July and had awful side effects and didn’t feel ok for about 6 weeks. Eventually I was having more good days than bad and at the moment I’m feeling loads better. Don’t be alarmed by the off days, I had them and it felt so frustrating to feel like I was taking one step forward and three steps back but it is normal to still have off days. The aim is to have them less and less ☺️ Mine became less and less and now I don’t have them often at all. Keep going ☺️ X
