This is every time it just occasionally and also I notice some foods such as I had swede and carrot last night and when I went this morning my whole movement was bits of swede and carrot is this normal in ibs? Sorry for all the questions just want to avoid drs at all costs after all this hassle lol. Any advice would be appreciated xx

I am also new at this. But I self diagnosed and self medicated for so long that itt so bad I wouldnt even leave my house. I scheduled all my trips by finding bathrooms first thing. After being in a stressful situation my diarrhea then turned into gas and bloating. I finally went to the Dr for bloodwork and stool sample all negative. I have a Dr appt on Tues to schedule a colonoscopy. My advise to you would be dont wait too long to see your Dr.

Some people get food particles in their stools with IBS because they have difficulty digesting certain foods.  Try avoiding the foods that cause these reactions or eat less of them if you can tolerate smaller amounts. Some people find raw vegetables a problem but can eat them if they are cooked.  Sometimes the method of cooking them can either trigger or ease symptoms.  All of this is normal with IBS.

Hi Linzi, restricting or minimizing sugar appears to help me. Someone in this forum recommended sour dough bread. I really wish I could recall why it works to calm my stomach but it works and it's nice to find bread I can eat.   In my case, if I eat sour dough bread and protein I feel much better. To much fiber, appears to bring a flare up.  The flare up for me is usually constipation so I do a colon cleansing which helps to clear my system.  I try to take probiotics but not all are equal so some seem to stir up my system a bit. This whole experience is definitely waking me up to what works for me and what does not work. We are all different in ways but there are common threads that run through. I'm happy to have found this forum because it helps to share ideas.  Hope you find your path to healing and a better quality of life.

Hi all I am not self diagnosed I have seen many drs and hospital visits had more tests than I can even remember lol I don't want a colonoscopy and the dr doesn't see or necessary.

It's just the onion peel looking things that worry me a I said I have more good days than bad days now so I guess that's what really matters

Hi I often get bits of food indigested...onionn skins and apple skins even skins from aubergine etc etc.

Suprised dr has said you don't need a Colonscopy.... I thought IBS is only diagnosed when all other dieses are ruled out... like IDB and Colitis etc

Have you tried the Low Fodmap diet or tried a food diary?  I did not have a colonoscopy either because I had no alarm symptoms si my doctor did not recommend it. I had a fecal calprotectin test to rule out IBD and this was negative.  If you are having more good than bad days, this is very good news and so you shouldn't worry. The less you worry, the more good days you have.  I have many good days, weeks and even months because my health anxiety has gone.

Keep working on your diet and try distraction techniques to control anxiety.

Weird how you mentioned anxiety it was when I was diagnosed with gad and put on sertraline this all started xx

It was anxiety that got my intestine in a twist in 2015.  However, in a strange way it has got me laughing and joking more.
