Dear Forum,
I hope everyone is well, I am 58 yrs old and over the past 13 years i have had ongoing urology problems due to Chronic Prostatitis and over the past 2 years i have had no major flare ups but always have a stop and start urine flow on first urine of the day and then everything seems fine. i have been on Tamsulosin everyday over the past 13 years and during flare ups i have been seen by a top Surrey Consultant on both NHS & privately. back in Oct 2020 i had a new flare up of Prostatitis and held out as long as possible before paying privately to visit the consultant. When i had my consultation he mentioned that he thought the urolift may help with my symtems and also booked me in for a Cystoscopy & flow test. My results are are as follows; occlusive looking prostate in terms of lateral lobes and a pretty open bladder neck. There was no significant middle lobe and no ball valve variant. the bladder appeared normal with mild trabeculation which says backs up the diagnosis of some degree of obstruction. flow test results are: Voiding 500ml at a maxium flow rate of 15mls but emptying bladder well. The consultant has booked me in for a urolift in May 2021 and just need some advice if this seems the correct course of action . Thank you so much and sorry about the long post.
