Hi I'm newly diagnosed with gallstones after having severe attacks my other question is I get really full after a meal and feels like it takes days for my food to go down feels like a blockage then I get sore and bloated and put at least 2 inch on and have to undo my bra is this normal.thanks
Hi carol, this is completely normal. Not very nice to deal with but yea very normal. I am 2 and half weeks post op after having suffered exactly the same. It's one of the most horrible things to have to deal with. Will you be having the gallbladder removed? Can I recommend taking buscopan and pain relief when you have an attack. The buscopan was given to me as I was admitted into hospital twice in 6 weeks for the same problem although acute cholecystitis and I found this helped a lot. Along with liquid gaviscon. Avoid fatty/greasy foods as this sort of food is the main reason for an attach. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Yes, it's a functional disorder... your gut stops working properly and you feel constipated, it doesn't really matter what you eat or drink if it isn't going to go through. Chances are it'll only get worse until nothing goes through at all anymore, as happened with me. Getting a diagnosis is the first big step to resolving this and it's great you've got that already. The next step is surgery. The shorter the time until then, the fewer attacks you will have to suffer. The stones are there and the gallbladder will have to come out. I'm trying to save you unnecessary suffering by getting you focused on the next step.
Hello Carol
My daughter is under the top specialist in the country after GB removal & specialist of Oddi suspected.
He has confirmed 100% a diet of little or no dairy & free from foods DO HELP the body digest the food easier and so it will help ease the pain a bit more and when your in pain anything to help is worth doing. Also the skin off of apples & tomato anything that is harder to break down in the body removed will help you before and after surgery while recovering. My daughter couldn't eat anything but she can get some in thankfully with this diet.
But what you have is normal with GB issues when not eortit backs up basically so you feel very full.
Take care of yourself and take it easy
Yup sounds about right .
Eat little and often .
I have found that pork is a bit if a trigger for me so I don't eat it now .
When I have a full blown attack I can not eat for about 5 -7 days as I feel constantly full ! Lived on cup a soups.
When I have the milder attacks or just the bloated /cramps/constant belching and nausea it's usually just that day and maybe the next .
I take buscapan brilliant stuff helps no end !
I also take omperazol every morning . I have anti sickness tablets in To take when needed .
I was scanned in January and have gallstones waiting for my appointment to see the consultant !
Bless you it is a really terrible situation to get to grips with as different things do trigger symptoms in different people peppermint tea has been great for my daughter also.
Buscopan is good as the attacks increase she has to be in A&E sadly as they have to do it all by injections directly.
Last A&E consultant confirmed also that pethadine is better than morphine during the attacks as it for soft tissue relaxing as with labour pains. So they are prescribing that in tablet form to try and control it better at home.
Fingers crossed they get you in soon x
Hi Carol , yes it all sounds very familiar. My husband is just like you at the moment and still waiting for op. It always feels like you have eaten 3 xmas dinners all at once. You feel very bloated and can't bare anthing tight around your stomach area. also the soreness can last for days on end. Try and keep to a low fat diet and eat little but often.
Keep your chin up, it won't be long before the darn things taken out.
Hi thanks for that I'm scared now I was referred to surgeon and got panicked and told I didn't want the OP but I've been getting more attacks will he see me again to have the OP don't no what to do in a frightened mess and scared he won't do it ๐ค๐ค๐ท๐ค๐ข
Yes he will see you just tell him you can no longer cope x
My dad had his gall bladder removed many years ago 30+
He is fine and said best thing he did - he just has to be care with very rich food now ( goes through him ) things like pheasant etc but he doesn't eat stuff like that regularly anyways x
They will see you when you let them know it's on the increase they will understand, no one wants an op so it was admiral that you tried to get through on your own and he will appreciate your efforts, but now you need him and tell him that xx
Thanks
Hi Carol,
โYes, I had this symptom. When your gallbladder is not working well, it affects the other digestive organs eventually as they should work as a team. It improved a lot post op, howver I do have other conditions including a hiatal hernia so still have a few remaining symptoms from those, but even those seem more manageable now. My gb was in very bad shape and the surgeon said it was lucky it was done before things got worse. The surgery was not too bad really, if you are going to have it, hope it goes well. Take care, Cynthia
Thanks
Hi yes I'm plucking up the courage I'm taking buscapan whilst the major attacks are less frequent (Xmas eve the last one) it's bothering me daily now the bloating wind tightness I'm starting to feel off it i can feel it in my back and it's getting to me so i think i will go ahead arghhhh๐
Hi and another thing I've started getting is really bad wind (back end) does this have anything to do with it or is it another problem thanks
Hi, I get very bloated now, this has increased from only a few symtpoms to lots more. The bloating hurts my belly and I often go between cannot get of the loo to constipated! depending on foods I guess. My rib aches worse after eating as well.
Sometimes I am hungry and others I have no interest in foods, doesnt really matter which food now, everything triggers it and chocolate is no worse than rice!
Hi ive struggled with my weight over the years due to bloating swelling wind etc struggling to no if i felt better eating or not i no im a pain but wondered if this is a symptom as i cant eat more than 1200 cals a day I've lost 2stone but still struggle to get my clothes to fit due to the humongous swelling in my belly haha๐๐
luckily for me my belly doesnt swell out much, I have dropped 2 clothes sizes and 14kg. I get the bloated feeling, my belly is sore and bloated and I feel like I have eaten a 5 course meal, but hardly swells outwards visually.
