Hi people, I've recently got courage to take myself to a doctor and get this properly diagnosed, I knew it was along follucultis but didn't realise I was suffering with a life long condition. I have had this for 5 years now, it started when I started to put weight on and progressively over the years it has got so worse, I know Im at stage 3-4. I'm finding myself dressing these after each shower and it does affect me mentally with mood swings because of the pain.
Did anyone lose weight and these started to clear? What foods did anyone stop eating and they started to heal? I need some advice also on what to do next? Do I go see a dermatologist or is this a waste of money?
Please help!
Thank you
Natasha
Also - I AM BASED IN NEW ZEALAND if there are any current locals reading this post....
A dermatologist told me that a having a high fat diet might be contributory and I even went to not eating chocolate for 7 years. It did help. But also stress, I think, is a big factor. When stressed, any weaknesses you might have will come to the surface, whether it is HS or anxiety etc etc. Cutting down on fat could be something you look at then. But go to a dermatologist - you might learn something more about the disease.
My dermatologist said she has a tiny HS patient that weighs around 100 lbs and has it so bad she couldn't walk at times. I am in remission after cutting nightshades and peanuts. I have not lost any weight unfortunately... But am going to start trying now that I can exercise without worrying about cysts! Good luck!
Hi I agree you need to see a dermatlogist. When I saw mine he said there is no cure but HS seems to be more prevalent in those who smoke or are overweight so trying to lose weight might help.
I find stress is my biggest trigger and since I have been out of work have very few now - thank goodness.
The main thing is get ab's if any are infected and not to squeeze them as you are damaging your skin further.
Many sufferers swear that cutting out nightshade foods (potatoes, tomatoes etc) help them, so much of it is trail and error. The only sure answer I have found is to have an hard pockets of matter which keep recurring incised by a surgeon. This does stop these ones coming back at least. Good luck and let us know how you get on. x
Tobacco is also a nightshade which explains the smoking link.
I cut out potatoes and it has reduced them loads. I still get them on my groin area a little and under my arms but if I go back to having a week of chips and potatoes I suffer the next week with them badly
