Hi all, This is my first time doing this, sorry for the long winded nature of the post, just feeling pretty anxious and wanted to give full detail. I'm 27 and have I've been a long time sufferer or heartburn/reflux (since I was a child) was prescribed Lansoprazole 15mg around a year ago. While this pretty much entirely eradicated the heartburn the regurgatation of food remained. I was sent for an upper endoscopy and was found to have Oesophagitis LA Grade B with some ulcers. I have been advised to take 60mg of the same meds for one week before reducing to 30 for the rest of my prescription with a view to reducing back to 15. While I have no doubt that this will get rid of my heartburn I feel unsure that It will help with the regurgitation . I have looked online and found out information on rumination syndrome. This was a condition I was previously unaware of but seems to match my symptoms exactly as regurgitated food tends to come up early and still has the taste and texture of the recently ingested foot rather than an acidic taste. This can happen with almost any food and is usually chewed and re-swallowed until digestion. I have had this symptom daily for as long as I can remember and much more often than heartburn which I likely have 2-3 times per week when not using medication. Could this be the cause of the Oesophagitis? And under the these circumstances is the Lansoprazole likely to heal the oesophagus? I've been taking the 60mg Lansoprazole for 3 days and while this has prevented food actually regurgitating into my mouth I feel a regular urge to burp and hicup and it feels almost as though food wants to come up but isnt quite making it as far as it usually would. Is this likely still harming my Oesophagus or just simply gas? As you can probably tell I suffer quite badly with health anxiety so any advice/reassurance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
