Why when I dont feel anxious I still get the affects. Like the constant palpatations/ectopic beats. I know im in a vicious circle, but struggling to understand when I feel happy I still suffer from these?? Any help greatly appreciated. ?..
Just get yourself checked out by the doctor every now and then - for your own peace of mind. I have had bad palpatations for over 20 years now and I have pretty much learned to ignore them. You are correct though - it can be vicious circle at times. Millions of people get them and lots of very healthy people get them including me, I do fun runs and swim a lot. Breathing exercises can help and meditation is excellent for people with anxiety, when done correctly.
Good luck Steph
Well its possible Steph that you only think you're relaxed but not really underneath. Also there can be other reasons for these symptoms too (and I don't mean that your heart is about to give out!) so get checked out for other things and then if it is down to your anxiety you can maybe distract yourself when you get these symptoms. good luck
Thanks for your response. I have been to gp and a&e good few times this month. Ive had ecgs full bloods and they say all is fine. Ecg showed these ectopic beats and they said they were fine. Although I feel relaxed its always in the back of my mind constant. Im so fed up...
Its constantly In the back of my mind no matter how relaxed I am.... cant quite understand how anxiety can cause these ectopic beats. ? Im currently awaiting cbt so hopfully that will help.
If it is the back of your mind then you are thinking about it and not relaxing. The mind is an amazing thing, if I asked you to think of one of your most happiest memories, you would probably get a warm and lovely feeling, even though you are not physically doing something.
The same can be true the other way, if all your energy and thoughts are negative ones and you are concentrating solely on your heartbeat, then you become overly sensitive in this area and may even be bringing the symptoms on yourself.
From the tests you have had, you sound like you are fine.
Look at your diet also: Caffeine and alchohol are something you should try to cut out, where possible.
Hi Steph,
When we are anxious our bodies enter a stage of resistance. This means that cortisol and adrenaline are still coursing through our bodies but at a milder rate than when we are in fight-or-flight. Because of this, you can still get the symptoms of panic etc. when you are not having a panic attack or in a dangerous situation. So, you can be sitting watching tv and your heart suddenly decides to start palpitating.
I find that magnesium can help
I myself have the same problem- I feel short of breath and light headed basically all day long without any reason for it. Yes, I know when I do get anxious or even when I eat it gets worse (The breathig) and I know when I take my xanax (0.5) it gets better for a few hours (60-70%) but I feel like is always present.
Hey steph. Im going througg the exact same as you all tests were fibe then showed up these ectopics but doc says dont worry and usually benign. I am classed as obese and all this pain/weird feelings (flip flops) palps etc have given me the boot up the bum to change my life around. Ive stopped smoking. Eating very healthy and exercise more now. So please take some positive out of this and use it to better yourself im here if you want to chat hun xxx
I get my anxiety symptoms out of the blue every day too, and it's so difficult to believe its anxiety when you were even feeling anxious 😔xx
I feel my anxiety is created by the light headed all day long- I wake up light headed, the light headed activates my anxiety and then I'm short of air until I take my xanax 0.5 which right now is not doing the job like it did 45 days ago. My PCD doesn't not agree with me so basically he has not done much until he gets another full report from my 2nd Psycologies and Psychiatrists. He wanted a 2nd opinion from both because they did not agree with him so he asked me to change both of them. I have my first meeting tomorrow so lets see how it goes. Both of them believe my anxiety is created 100% by the lack of medical advise.
