Advise for dealing with anxiety at University

So I start University next week and will be living roughly 2 hours away from home, this is going to be a massive deal for me as I have suffered from OCD and Anxiety from the age of 14. I have always told myself I would never let my mental health issues stop me from doing anything that I have wanted to do, but I am really worried I will not be able to cope.

This past year has been a real downwards spiral for me, with my Doctor initially just prescribing me Propranolol but also referring me to the Depression and Anxiety service for counselling. But the stress of all the change in my life has also led to me feeling really down and I feel really hopeless.

Does anyone have any tips for staying positive/ dealing with anxiety at University?

Many campuses have classes on yoga and stress reduction. Usually the special ed buildings have that information. They are just more up on their game with events then asking around. I would say add on a yoga class to your first semester classes.  very good to learn self calming techniques and breathing. First semester jitters is normal but you will adjust a lot faster then you think. Id say a solid week or two youll be good.

My neice is absolutly gorgeous, straight A student, involved in everything , never lets her disability stop her . She gets bullied, stared at , takes tests alone ( distracts others) etc. but her True friends stick close . She suffers from Tourettes Syndrome and started college a few weeks ago . But she says , i can do it and she does ..... And theres NO cure for Hannah .... She smiles through it

2nd in her class in HS. For swimming and Cross Country , imagine fighting against almost constant tics and still coming out on top . Many wouldn't want to leave the house . You will do fine , have fun, study hard and enjoy your College years .

Your going to do so good at school

Keep very busy

Manage time slots and stick to them even if you have to push yourself

Take time if you can once a month fior a mini facial or pedi

Exercise, exercise.... Its a mood elevator

Take your B-12

Get plenty of rest

Keep busy and panic won't be able to fit in .

If you get nervous or symotoms

A true panic attack only lasts 20 minutes, you'll get through it .

Have a wonderful year . Make it wonderful, you are capable ... Xoxo
