I have this week been confirmed with COPD by my GP after testing. She is refering me to hospital but have been given no other information. I am going out of my mind and not sure how bad this is or could be later in life

I gave up smoking 13 years ago was never heavy smoker.

Hi some people who have never smoked still get COPD. i was worried at first until i found out more. What test did you have was it a Spirometry test ? have you had the results.

Hi Karen,

Dont worry yourself to much, it will probably just be for the usual copd test.

When I was sent to hospital, I had a couple of breathing test, an x-ray, a scan, and a blood test.

By the way, what are your symtons with breathing, coughing etc, if any?

Dont worry,

Ron x

I had given up smoking 20 years before diagnosis. My cousin has COPD but has not smoked and did not work in smoke. My family is genetically prone to COPD. Othrrs in your family?

I have just been confirmed as having copd like you I'm scared but I was told as long as I eat well exercise and take my medications it won't get rid of it but it will slow it down

Hope you have found more information about COPD by now karen,  if not check out patient UK leaflet:
