Af trigger

Does anyone know if acid reflux or gerd can trigger af?

Yup it sure can. Most all of us on this forum have some sort of stomach/intestinal issues. The vagus nerve is all part of it to. When it gets irritated due to stomach and intestinal issues it can also can problems. Google is a great source for information related to this.

Yes it can.

I can suffer for several days and then have a a good period without  it. I have not found any particular trigger for it.

Another is passing a hard stool as that can also stimulate the vagus nerve.

Wow okay then I'm wondering if using antacid can help reduce the attacks ?

I can tell you first hand constipation does stimulate the vagus nerve and has triggered my AFib

I take a PPI and it does not help.

PPI?

Proton pump inhibitors. Drugs like Nexium.

Oh ok ..I'm really  paying attention to  food triggers it makes a lot of sense to me  I only hope they find a cure if not something to help this so stressful frustrating thing to have.there's so many questions that I have when I go into atrial fib but doctors don't even know and that part is scary

As the others have pointed out there is a connncetion between Af and acid reflux, all stimulated by the vegas nerve that controls the heart, gut, and lungs,

lots of people on the forum have found certain food triggers like caffine or chocolate (that definateley gets my AF going)  and also puts my acid reflux into overdrive.

As for a cure we all wish that would happen soon, there is a scientist in Denmark working on a pace maker for the vegas nerve it is being trialed at the moment, here's hoping its available soon.
