On the subject of bisopradol n drinking, I'm on 5 mg daily stopped drinking and smoking all together, feel like rubbish tired listless, get out of breadthless after short distance. See my cardiologists this Friday first time since August when was first diagnosed with this poxy thing need to come off it ASAP or some op to cure af carnt even emulsion a ceiling without dizzy spells or breathing issues, so back at home my decorating work as to take a back seat until I'm fit again, ps it's a constant battle for me to keep off the fags n Guinness felt fine when I was on that daily better than any meds
Hi Popeye , you are in good company on here I think just about everyone had these side effects on biso , I couldnt walk the length of the garden , wash my hair etc and I was only on 2.5 a day my GP took it down to 1.25 , instantly felt less tired , the consultant via GP put me on 1.25 of digiton ( I think that's it's name ) as well , I feel so much better I can walk without been breathless etc , but not normal what ever that is , hats of to you stopping the drink and cigs ,
Cheers for reply bernadette44282 I will see what they say Friday at hospital must admit I have most of my good advice off this site, doctor and hospital not so much
Good luck
Think you should be patting yourself on the back for keeping off the fags and booze Popeye62. Keep it up. Your diagnosis is relatively recent and it does take a while before medication is tweaked and you are on a dosage you can tolerate.
Good that you are seeing the cardioogists this week. Lots of us have had problems with Bisoprolol. Tell them honestly how you are feeling and, you never know, they might reduce the meds. Early days. Meanwhile think about living with the ceiling as it is.
With the money you are saving on drink and cigs you wil be able to afford private treatment:-)
No hope fir me then lol
If I could stop you can stop. I started work with a tobacco company so faced temptation as soon as I left school. Soon I was smoking 20 a day as well as a pipe and cigars plus the odd pinch of snuff.
I stopped a couple of times for about six months before finally stopping in 1993. Nine moths after stopping the money saved paid for a holiday in Hong Kong with a side trip to China.
I know your right , but I enjoy my cigs , I stopped once for two and a half years and started again , , stupid I know , I have even had hypnotise lol
Agree with you there popeye. This site is brilliant for picking up info not to mention the general chit chat.
When I was on 5mgs of biso I was sleeping for 14 hours a day. On 2.5mgs went down to10 hours a night and, on 1.25mgs, 8 hours was ample but, on 1.25mgs (every othe night - my idea not my GP's!) have become an insomniac. I'll decide this week whether to takei every night or go back on it completely. Given my heart attack in May, thinking of following their advice for a while longer which means that I won't be painting my ceilings either.
Are you crazy popeye62?! Don't even look at the ceilings. 2015 is another year.
Take care.
Alex
Improves your sense of taste and smell. You can enjoy wine more and afford better ones:-)
Haha , cheeky ,
Soon after stopping smoking I complained to a doctor that I did not feel any better for having stopped. He said that the benefits are long term and in seven years my odds on getting heart disease or lung caner were almost as good as if I had not smoked. Seven years later I had hypertension:-)
After my heart attack I cut down from 40 cigs a day to around 15 a day. For the first few weeks after cutting down I was very breathless, so as a professional researcher i researched it When you smoke it actually opens up the bronchial passages so when you cut down drastically or stop, you get breathless until your lungs adjust. Add this to the side effects of Bisoprolol and it is really debilitating! That why i didnt stop completely, as smoking helps me relax and destress and it one of the few things left that I enjoy.
You could relax on a lot less than 15 a day.
When I was in hospital a 30 day smoker in after his fourth heart attack phoned his mother asking her to bring in cigarettes. He said I'm not going to smoke but I'll feel comforted by them being there:-)
Have you tried electronic cigarettes? They even allow you to smoke them in the cardiac surgery ward.
You can stop and start smoking drinking etc but everything in moderation is not a bad thing either , we prob have friends and family who never drank or spoke , don't really know the answer but I agree some things are bad for you even eggs a one point lol ,, I'm off to the warfarin clinic again today if my bloods are not right again because I had a glass of wine on my hubbies bday , then I really am going to tell them I don't want to go ahead with the cardio , I hope my blood pressure can stand up today lol
Good luck with your INR reading. Up to two glasses of wine a day did not affect my INR. The secret is to have it every day as with veggies with vitamin K in them rather than stop start on them.
I don't understand why you want to avoid the cardioversion. When I went for mine one Guy was having his twelth one but he had sleep aponea and many other things wrong with him and must have weighed about 17 stone.
if i had one the mrs said she would castrate me. good reason not to start again got one of them ecigs,on 24 mg of golden virginia flavour?,not the same as a real cig but tis what it is at least i can smoke watching tv now
i think i have done well not smoking after 35,years got my ecig as for the hospital the dragons going with me so if i dont tell themeverything she will .if i went on my own i would say i felt ok so they would let me start work again as a self employed decorator its hard sitting on my butt instaed of painting all ,day
Dr Dereck the reformed smoker . Popeye castration is not a problem fir me , lol
feeling utterly disappointed to night , the blood results were awful , last week 4.5 this week 1.9 she took it twicejust to make sure , so the
ats the cardio cancelled fir the 11/4 ,. When I was obvisoulty upset she said have you been stressing about this ,,, yes I have , well that's what's happened you burn warfarin when you are stressed , here's me thinking you burned ibs , . I took the AF through stress , my world is about to get a lot more stressful as I close my business down , and when I said I am under the opinion that it does not always work at all or for any great length of time she confirmed this , desicion make no cardio for me , I will keep my appointment for the consultant on the 20 Nov , so tonight I am having a glass of wine and a cig , xx
