Does your doctor not have same day appointments if you ring in early?
Our one keeps a third of his appointments as same day. One third to book as advance and other other third that the doctors keep to allocate to patients.
The practice I used to go in Scotland ten years ago practically did away with advance appointments and made the majority of them all same day
Hi popeye same problem here with GP visits - you have to phone on a Thursday for the following week but if you phone too late you need to wait another week before you can even phone for an appointment. Hope your wee lie down did you some good. Ive had to up my dosage of bisoloprol and its back to square one with the side effects - feel like I have run face first into a wall about an hour after the morning dose - just as well I have split the dose and take the other half at night!!! Sorry to he
oopd hit the wrong button!!! Sorry to hear you are not feeling so good at the moment. Hope things start getting better for you. Lets enjoy the sun while it lasts.!!!
Seems like they run the appointments system to suit themselves. Have you ever complained to the doctor or the practice manager?
Funny you should say that derek thats going to be my first chomp when i go.4 weeks ago when my af was bad i got a energency appointment rang at 8.30 they gave me 4 oclock so i went down and sat for over a hour so a doctor would see me and after my ecg he said i was in af they really are rubbish but the more history on my record yhe bettet chance i will have with my cardiologists next month.im pushing as hard as possible at 52 this af is killing my life both working and socially i really do hate it as i have said before i think i would sooner have had a heart attack not death just enough for op to cure me
Im all for that one my friend😀😀 give me the rays anyday
No It didnt use to be like this - this is a recent thing - there is a sign up about cuts to GP services and the need to contact MP re increase in funding to reduce appointment waiting times.
It always surprises us to hear how bad things are in other parts of the country as we have never had that problem. In the past tweny years we haved lived in Surrey, Edinburgh and East Sussex.
The GP's at our practice were only a working three day weeks until one left and they then went to four days. They then recruited a couple on job share but have not reduced their days again.
When I asked I was told that my GP has 3000 patients. Every time I go they have new mostly foreign patients signing up. Many of them pregnant females or with kids. When I commented he said that get off the boat at Dover, turn left and have their babies here before moving on to London.
A suggestion I think on Question Time this week was that certain types of patient who take up a disproportionate ammount of GP's time should have other facilities caring for them. eg mental health/dementia patients who really need specialised treatment.
I dont know what to say derek seems in sheffield everybody got summat up with them.to many people living in a small space just like the country
Where I live it is called God's Waiting Room as the population is so aged. But as I say incomers are now bringing the average down. I counted as I left our house one day and the first thirty who passed me were not speaking English.
I went to Bognor Regis one day and on the long walk from the station to the seafront not one person was speaking English. Evidently 20,000 mainly East Europeans live there. The men work in agriculture and the women in the holiday camp and hotels.
We had our dinner in a Russian restaurant. The next time we went there we went to a Bulgarian restaurant.
Where we lived in Surrey until 1994 it is now a South Korean enclave with over 20,000 of them living there. The shops in main now have Oriental signs above them.
A friends GP will only deal with one problem per visit if youve got more than one issue you need to book a double appointment in a bid not to keep people waiting apparently
