Afraid of Being Sick at School.

While I'm at home, my symptoms are what I call deal-withable. But while im at school, the agoraphobia is dreadful. It didn't use to be like this.

I fit in well, have a lot of friends, school mascot, been going here since the 9th grade. But for some reason, ever since u had my first panic attack here, I've been scared something will happen. Mostly with my heart or breathing. I've seen a cardiologist, nothing but skipped beats. Was given the lowest does of propanolol because they aren't, serious. I have sinus arrhythmia but that's normal as well & only occurs in healthy young people.

The symptoms are very noticeable & I know they're not serious, but it's hard to ignore. I mean, how can you ignore when you can't breathe? Or your heart pounding.

I know I should take my meds but I'm just simply not. Not up for discussion. I know I'm having flare ups because they only get bad when my anxiety is triggered.

I get afraid of stuff that's not reasonable. I get afraid I'll have an asthma attack eventhough I've had 3 chest xrays. I'm afraid I'll just drop for no reason. I can't keep leaving my life like this. Any help?

Thanks.

I agree with you this is really ruining my life aswell I'm 23 year old male and when I'm at work its tottally worse , It feels luke I struggle more , the breathing is horrible , it feels like u gasp for air , and heart palpilatiins and chest pain are all bad , but when I'm at home I can control this more ,

And I also get it 24/7

I think its also for me becuase i have been bad at work and my firat panuc attak struck me there , so yeah it was pretty terrible and ia bad at work but I can cope better at home

Yeah it's definitely a form of a agoraphobia. You have to calm down though because panicking will make it worse. Deep breathe. My breathing gets horrible. I'm only 16 & im worried about stupid stuff like blood pressure eventhough I've been told im fine MULTIPLE times. I just remeber how many times I've been told I'm fine & pray. It helps.

Hope you feel better soon ❤

You aswell ,I hope you can get better fast , Just believe , Yeah I try to stay calm but sometimes it gets bad like I said when I'm at work its actualy worse , I don't know why but at home yeah its more manigmable

Jess, try to setup your schedule in a manner that is not so hectic. College is a huge trigger for me, so I take as few classes as possible and some are online. Classic anxiety. It led to agoraphobia for me too. Stupidly, I listened to the doctors and took their evil "medicine." Now my problems are 100 times worse!

You can find sounds online to breath along to. You want to get down to 7-9 breathes per minute. Belly breaths through the nose. Also, keep your blood sugar stable.

Yes I just did. Took off an AP class & got a study skills class which is basically a free period to chill, & study if you want. I feel like that will help cause I need a break. Thankyou for the advice it's appreciated. I was playing ball but I stopped because i felt my heart beating & got scared. I've had a stress test but that gives me no reassurance.

I've been trying to figure that out too lol. My symptoms are much more manageable at home but in a public place? No. It's stupid because if something really was to happen i'd get immediate attention as opose to being at home. Idk. But I know that it's psychological because it varies depending on my anxiety. That helps me manage it more as well.

I think you should go through it. 1 of the things they teach while at therapy (still waiting on my appointment, but have heard) is that they make you face your fears! They make you go through what makes you anxious! Eventually, you realize there is nothing to be anxious about and the symptoms will be more manageable. Have your tried therapy?

No I haven't. I might look into it though. I'm going to keep going so I can adjust back cause my communication skills have faded lol
