Subtular hindfoot R foot fusion, 40y/o previously mega active, big boned (105kg fit)& 6'2!!

9months ON!!!

#Since came out of boot & ful weight baring ive been struggling, more pain than i expectin and from others storys, evey check up i complain and Time is answer i receive every time... i question my weight and its impact? A:nope

Well its Not bloody GOOD? its not fused, 9months later and it took a CT scan for them to take notice.. but as u smoked & occasionally used illicit drug, blame is yours they hint..

Wat bout my concerns from day one about weight, and queries at every appointment about pain...

If they only understood how good my pain tolerance is...

Time time time, all good i hear... now after CT, OH MUST be smoking and occasional drug uses fault¿¿

Never mind fact ive not been listened to for 5+months, pushing thru pain, thinking its because im heavier now as i haven't been as mobile & pain free as im told i should B

Now im waiting for op to remove top screw in hope the bone wil drop once removed and it might, no guarantee... FUSE???

NO SURGEON, Registar sees me and only on demand was i shown CT and after questions understand why they want to remove top pin as it might work??? Whenever ive requested info/xrays/reports from surgeon ive been given 2 sentences and pics on disc that were almost as impossible as reports to download of it!!!

OBVIOUSLY IM ANGRY, DISAPPOINTED AND WANT ANSWERS AND for Docs to get there head out of there arses and show me a lil respect and empathy for situation im in because of surgery they performed?? Any ideas comments or wonder miracles id love to hear cheeeers

Your situation sounds rough- sorry. I would be concerned too!I can't say I have experience with your particular procedure but it seems that you are maybe distrusting your own instinct/ gut feeling your weight is preventing your healing or minimally causing more pain. I have come to learn this voice is FAR more important than any X-ray/ MRI/ Dr. They only see from the perspective of what they can interpret and no disrespect to Dr's but many have tunnel vision with only what they specialize in- but the body is more complex! Weight is additional strain and pressure on bones/ ligaments etc. if your body is trying to heal it had this additional challenge. I am in a similar boat- I have additional weight as I am now weight bearing on my ankle and feel I need to tackle that if I need to expedite this healing after a bad high ankle sprain in soccer ( 7 weeks in). You don't need to workout to lose weight it's mainly diet. I too am not as active so more reason to watch the food choices. Hang in there- refocus on what is in your control and do that! That alone may make your feel back in control over what is within reach and help your healing! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Its the docs who wouldnt listen and ive always stayed fit thru movement, mind & body.. im naturally solid, diet may be helpful but near impossible without my mind positive and without movement im not sure how to get there... although i played aussie rules most of life.. original injury was defending crosses in the box

Kevin 9 months no wonder you're frustrated what plates and screws did you have put in ?

I am 11 weeks and frustrated .i had a screw removed 10 days ago and stitches out today .also had first physio shown what exercises to do and referred for hydrotherapy. Still can't fully weight bear and foot swells a lot during the day and aches still on paracetamol.

Hi Kevin.I had a triple fusion nearly ten months ago and I must admit that I had moments when I thought it would never heal.I was in a cast for 7 weeks and then a boot for a further 14 weeks with gradual weight bearing.I am now starting to feel the benefit of the operation and although I am still on pain medication I am much more mobile.I do still use one crutch when I go out just as a form of security and to let others know that I am a little unsteady.I'm sure that you will make progress and it is a good thing to record what you are able to do from week to week.I was told by my specialist that it will take between 12 and 18 months for a full recovery.Have you seen a physiotherapist to give you exercises,they are really helpful.I hope you don't get too depressed and remember there are many people on these sites who will be willing to encourage you and share their experiences with you.A problem shared is a problem halved.Best wishes Nonita

Mate.. ive got a 25cm rod running up my leg with 2 screws at bottom inserted from rear of heel and one just shy of top of rod, they now want to remove top screw in hope my tibia wil drop and heel/fuse completely

The rod is about as thick as ya ring finger

And then the screw removal goes south.. looked and felt awesome until stitches came out and 3-4days later its infected and then 3 days later im admitted to hospital..

36 hours at joondalup hospital on oral antibiotics as prescribed couple nights b4, IV CANULA inserted at emergency but as transferred to Fiona Stanley they removed canula, hospital policy??

Arrive at Ward 4A and see doc after 1▪5hours and his wellness plan involves IV canula and antibiotics and daily dressing changes*****

UM Pretty sure u could have started this 36hous b4 in joondalup Hospital, tomorrow is week since admitted and 50 odd hours ago, silver chain refused to come do dressings at mine as i was silly enough to be honest bout previous drug use and had to arrange daily dressing changes b4 could go home... stil infected but looks to b improving so let's home its not another debacle in my Ankle Life##

10 months yesterday and i now have have a 10c piece round and finger nail + deep size wound where they removed the top screw hoping that it would help with non union.. all was fine til 3 days after stitches were removed and then infection set in, already spent 4 days in hospital from it and now dressings every 2nd day and two weekly check up with wound specialists!!!

Why why WHY did i get this done!!!!!!!!! ##NO SOLUTION in sight
