hi ladies ,its now been 27 days since my cystocele repair , i had a wee feel the other day and felt like a lump , im sure its where my stitches are/were , is this normal ? , i did have an infection 2 weeks ago and saw my doctor and she said everything looked fine but now im worried sick my operation has failed, anyone else felt this, could it just be swelling ?

I had my op the same time as you, on 23rd Feb. I also have a hard lump where I had my op and think I can feel stitches there too. So hopefully it's normal X can I just ask how you knew you had an infection please? I'm not sure if I have as I can't get a Drs appointment any time soon x
There was a post only yesterday about the "lump" and it's been discussed many times before as well. It's perfectly normal
hi Rosiepix, thank you for the reply, i started to get a bad smell and it was getting worse , also i wasnt bleeding but along with the smell i had a slight brown discharge, i got a 7 day course of antibiotics and smell was gone within 2 days x

no problem , the lump is weird though, been in a total panic, dont want this 2 be for nothing as im losing out on so much with my baby girl as my parents have her all day till hubby picks her up at night such a long process isnt it x
Helen just click on genitourinary prolapse at the top of the page and it will take you to all the different threads but just to add the lump could be felt for quite some time because of the trauma of the operation and it takes a while to reduce, sometimes up to 6-12 months, although it won't be uncomfortable for that length of time.
thank you , i will go have a look now feel a bit reassured now ,was in a total panic , i know im early days but every twinge makes me think its back, im totally obsessed just now , total nightmare, phoned hospital to find out about my follow up appointment only to be told i dont have one, a letter sent to my doctor seems to be all the after care im getting lol x
It appears helen that sadly more and more doctors are no longer seeing ladies for a post op check which I don't agree with. In my area every woman is seen at least once. Some GP's do have gynae experience and if there is one in your surgery see him/her. You can check if they have through your surgery website. If it doesn't explain it clearly look for initials after their name such as MRCG or RCOG.
thank you , it says my doctor has FRCGP , but there are other who have MRCGP and DRCOG x
helen FRCGP is Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners. MRCGP is a member of the college. It's the doctor who is DRCOG you are best seeing as he has the Diploma of the Royal College of Gynaecologists.
