Hi all again, can anyone tell me how how it takes to get my stomach back to normal after op, it is still very bloated and I have some pains, 4 days on, had trouble with not passing bowels till Saturday and today and not allot, but still feel not good and terrible bloated stomach, Stella
Six weeks .. Sorry Stella but you've got to heal inside. Xx
Hi Sally thanks for replying to me hoped you would, how long did it take to get rid of the bloated stomach etc
Hi I had real discomfort with the gas they inflated me with. I remember taking paracetamols every 6 hours for the first week . And then just at night.
Once I passed wind the bloating disappeared about a week after.
I remember feeling quite good 2 weeks after .. Over doing it oops and then really aching inside... And about 4 weeks after feeling extremely fatigued felt quite tearful .....Then 6 weeks after felt recovered and really good. ..
just the process of healing Stella ...
got to be a patient patient
not easy ... You'll be fine .
Dont forget mint tea and gaviscon for trapped wind ...
Hi Stella, like has been said it's a matter of time, now starting 8th week, I have been plodding along slowly as said before got to let yourself heal, cannot rush this and everyone goes at there own pace. My worse thing is being left with a bulge on my right side. But hoping it will.go eventually. Just feel lucky to have the pain gone what a relief . As said before time and patience, you will get there.
it took me almost 3 weeks to get back to normal.
Stella everybody is different. Drink lots of water rest and walk around the house. Put ice packs on. I had my surgery on the 11th and finally went number two yesterday. I'm still in pain. If you don't feel right call your doctor. I hope you feel better real soon. I gave up my birthday so I would be better for Christmas.
Hi. I had my op 4 weeks ago I healed very quickly but that's because I had the luxury of coming home and staying in bed for a week
I had a slightly different op as the surgeon noticed I also had am umbilical hernia and decided to operate on that at the same time lol 2 for 1 on the nhs well done I was very pleased. Anyway took me a few days to settle pain wise it was very tough to stand walk etc and had terrible constipation but dulcolax and orange juice helped me with that problem eventually. 4 weeks on I'm still slightly sore and quite tearful but I had a rough few months and last week my lovely mother in law passed away awful sad time for us all. So the teary feelings are to be expected. But I feel like I'm mending well just now and then I move too quick and feel a tugging pain. Good luck with your healing time
Everyone is different take care x
Thanks Eileen
Thanks again Sally for your help
