After suffering for 1 year. Is this TMJ?

Good evening all. Last December I suffered with some sort of 1 off panic attack that left me constantly light headed for 6 months, Andy by light headed I mean I felt spaced out, Feeling of passing out, tinnitus, constant pains in my chest, neck shoulders jaw ect. All checks scans done & clear. Dr’s kept telling me I was depressed. I very clearly wasn’t I was ill but had no choice to listen as 3 nhs Dr’s said so, They pushed me into seeing a mental health nurse who sent me straight back to them with a signed piece of paper saying I was poorly, not mentallyill! I was laid out in bed and couldn’t work it was that bad… I won’t bore you too much but the short of it is this… After 6 months the light-headedness started to lift, The chest pains never went, but calmed down alot… I’ve paid out £1000s for private Dr’s, brain scans ect ect to try and find out what’s happening, Again all clear. I still to this day have chest pains ( sore pains) So we have now decided that it is coctochondritus due to how it is.

4weeks back I went to a private ENT. Who also gave me the all clear with ears and hearing tests. He told me the constant buzzing is from a year of tense muscles and stress. It’s actually brain buzzing not ears, hence the clean bill of health for the ears.

2 weeks ago… Over a period of 3 days my jaw starts to ache every day, and guess what, 4th day, Bang light-headedness is back, I’m laid out on the sofa, My eyes are going blurry as the did before (not blurry enough for me not to see if that makes sense, but I know my own eyes) , My neck, JAW, back, shoulders, sides of face, lower back head, bones behind & above my ears are all aching, and odd feelings down right arm and jelly legs. Pain rating from the neck up is 3/4 out of 10. They just come and go all day. More just a boring dull ache. This light-headedness seems to come from just above my right ear, oddly enough.

Anyhow I’m now back up off the sofa up & about, still lightheaded but not as bad as I was last week. Still all facial & head aches as mentioned above, I’ll also add that while being lightheaded loud noises and bright lights also affected how I felt ( which I know are definitely tmj symptoms.)

I’m not asking anyone to shed a light on this, as I’ve spent 1 year and alot of money on medical professionals to try and shed a light and they can’t. Not 1 has mentioned TMJ to me tho.

I should also mention I have just started physio after the ENT visit to try and pull a few knots out my back. She also said that it’s very tight up top.

I’ve also been advised to use amitriptyline for my chest pains from a local pharmacy which I will make a start with. I also read alot of tmj sufferers use this same medication.

But what I would like to ask is, Can anyone relate to this? I’ve only recently started looking at tmj forums, and for those suffering badly I’ve been reading about, I feel like I’ve been reading all about myself over the last year.

Thanks all and merry Xmas

Hi Steve i have just been reading your post as i can relate to your story .I have been suffering for a year with pain in my jaw, face, behind eyes and my sight does not feel right ears feel full all my glands and neck hurt this effects my swallowing constant headache burning sensation in legs and fingers extreme fatigue brain fog nasal congestion the list is endless .I have had blood tests chest x ray ct scan of head and neck all are normal .I agree with you the doctors do not care they do not understand so make you feel as your making it up and just anxiety.my dentist has refereed me to the maxi clinic as she said i have a crossbite and can be tmj im also taking 20mg of ammitriptyline each night as told it helps with the muscles i try to go for regular sports massages as my shoulders have been so tight since been feeling ill.But due to covid i have not been having any .I am convinced its something serious because i feel so ill everyday i am going to ask for a blood test for EBV and mono i have been reading on other forums they are similar symptoms to mine .
